I have a small stainless steel Coke keg 19L with an oval loading port. Connection fittings are not standard (for beer), so I converted them to standard 8 mm pneumatic connections. I displace any liquids with air pressure. But you need a pressure regulator.Great thread and great ideas.
I use one of those syringe things, that look like half a grease gun, to get gear oil into Fiat and Alfa gearboxes.
It's a pain, as the fill plug is down the back of the engine between the gearbox and the firewall.
I now have another tool to make.
I fancy the pressurised fire extinguisher type.

Yes, pressure regulator, pressure relief valve, non return valve, a valve to release pressure when I'm finished filling (the pressure relief valve could do that) and possible even a remote inlet valve.
These things can get out of hand very quickly.
It's a nice project, but do I need another project?
Bought one from lidl, went to change the diff oil on my landrover. As soon as the oil hit the pump it died. Refunded. I now use this:I have the Aldi/Lidl version of this, really struggled with 46 hydraulic oil. Don’t think it would be any use for thick gear oil
Your scheme is overly complicated, with unnecessary bells and whistles. I have a removable pressure regulator, universal application. With it, I displace oil from 200 liter drums, at a pressure of 0.5 bar. The keg is designed for pressure above 9 bar from memory. I use 5 bar max.Yes, pressure regulator, pressure relief valve, non return valve, a valve to release pressure when I'm finished filling (the pressure relief valve could do that) and possible even a remote inlet valve.

I purchased an oil safe a few years ago for outboard gearboxes and the Defender, brilliant piece of kit.

I came to the same conclusion on the new price, though watched ebay, gumtree etc until one came up.Out of all the suggestions, this was the one that, initially, seemed favorable...
It's a pity they're crazy expensive.
Best prices I've found are about £90 for the pump bit and £30 each for the cap and bottle.
£50 I could probably con myself into, given enough time, but £150 is probably pushing it : (
"Reassuringly expensive" - or something like that!
I'll probably spend 3 weeks and £70 making some diy contraption instead.... : /
Two elbows and a bit of clear pneumatic pipe. One at the top one at the bottom pipe betweenDip stick ✓
Sight glass that can resist a bit of pressure? There might be something laying near the Titanic, if I can get a hold of it.

Threads do not look bad, worth trying ptfe tape? So, i mentioned this to a friend, and, to my surprise, he said "ive got one of those".
And then followed up by "i managed to break it with ep90"
I dont know the details of the incident, but it seems that the thread has been stripped, but i cant work out which thread.
This one looks ok -

But then so does this one -

And there is no split in the ring (im assuming that the ring is supposed to spin independently of the rest of the pump?)
Here is a "micro" vid of the issue -
The pump "unit" just pushes on and pulls off with ease.
Ive already dribbled EP90 from the car to the front door....

A new lid not that dear, though may not be the fault: https://oilspillproducts.co.uk/products/oil-safe-utility-lid?variant=35476655568
