Credit where credits due..

I just wanted to give credit where it’s due to this equipment supplier Axminster who i can honestly say are simply the BEST company i have ever dealt with..

I admit i’m quick to name and shame when i feel it’s necessary but tbf i always give praise to those who deserve it and boy do Axminster deserve this.

Right throughout the company, which, has many of its own demo showrooms around the UK, they are brilliant..

Quick delivery… I was asleep after a 12 hr night shift so left a note for the delivery driver to knock and or phone me as i’d been on nights so i could get up and give him a hand, i had said the gate is open if all else fails.. No calls on my phone but on getting up there it was, all beautifully stacked on the patio 44kilos, gate shut etc.. Exceptional..

My purchase … I bought the metal cutting hacksaw below and talk about solid, made from cast iron, quiet and easy to use.. Straight out of the box the set up of the tool was incredible.. I cut a piece of round steel bar just to see how it handled the task? above and beyond was the answer, i thought i was about to cut a slice around 5mm thick but no, i’d actually set it to cut at 0.5mm .. The proof is here to see a shim by accident which when checked was nigh on perfect all the way round ..

I was a little unlucky i guess in that i found an issue with my saw where friends i’ve spoken too have had zero issues at all with theirs.. The blade basically could slide off the drive wheel on occasion, indeed it broke a couple of blades unfortunately. Speaking on Administers chat line they dispatched a new blade twice straight away, i received them early the next morning.. I admit i was worried that should i make adjustments etc it might affect the warranty but after contacting them over my concerns they dispatched one of their engineers who arrived early the next morning all the way from Brighton to me in Ipswich.. Matt, a luvly guy soon had the issue sorted, it was a case of a small modification to a guide washer and then re adjusting the bearing tension on the guides.. After that, off he went back to Brighton..
How many companies would do this?

Friendly.. The staff are wonderful they genuinely care about you and your purchase, they truly go above and beyond without question..

Downsides.. The only bad parts and this is being picky.. The instruction book is not very thorough to be fair.. In this day and age and may i suggest? A video from their technical department to demonstrate how to accurately fit a blade and how to make the finer adjustments, because the engineer showed me things i’d never have guessed to even look for.. It could save the company a lot of time and money in blades and engineers travels..

The vice on this machine is superb! Cutting Accuracy brilliant, low noise, decent price and mobile too.. I think my neighbours appreciate this purchase too, far less use of angle grinders /disc cutting..

I have a similar Axminster bandsaw. Although on a lower stand than yours. Exactly the same as the Machine mart one, Warco and many others. They do work very well.
I have still not forgiven Axminster for they way they packaged a large machine we had to collect from them. Can't remember what it was now. Quite a few years ago. You would expect a company like that to palletise properly.
There was a separate control box/cabinet on castors. They just cable tied it to the side of the machine. The cable ties broke and the control unit was battered. When I asked them why they didn't bother to palletise it properly they said - "why should we - the chap bought it used and at a good price"
I bought my 2nd hand Bridgeport from Warco and they did a brilliant job of making it safe to transport. I still use it on the custom pallet it was shipped on!

Yes, but it is vapourware because of Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Last interaction I had with them they came through for me providing a copy of software for a CNC machine supplied 5 years ago. Great to see them sorting your machine @noodsand posting the fix on here should help others as well in future with the same issue.

Customer service is a huge factor to me when purchasing fairly big ticket items..I remember an air drill i purchased from machine mart it stopped working inside 6 weeks, took it back and asked for a replacement or my money back, they told me they had a right to send it back to their HQ for inspection, not happy but they wouldn’t give me what i asked for.. Weeks later got told it’s worn out due to excessive use? i eventually ended up with a bag of bits from them for it was going to actually cost more to repair it allegedly than the cost for a new one..

Also i e mailed MM twice asking for a wiring diagram for my Boxer compressor which they supplied to me from new, twice, i heard nothing.. So now, i have nothing to do with them..

Social media, like word of mouth, is a very powerful tool these days…

Well i freely admit i’m no longer the sharpest knife in the drawer. After a major breakdown myself (without any warranty too) i’ve since struggled with my speech and some things which many take for granted, but yes, i truly believe Axminster would do themselves a huge favour by getting their techno dept to shoot a video explaining everything about set up and adjustment on machines such as this..

It's important, IMHO, regardless of item cost. It's that which makes the difference between a bad & good company. Every company occasionally has a crap/annoying moment, but if it's the rule rather than a rarity, it dictates whether they get repeat business or not.

Well said, I have to admit i don’t respect these trust a trader sites etc after one of my friends told me how his building company pays an annual fee to be on there.. i guess when you think about it how would the, “we recommend” sites survive if not for income from good and bad trades/companies..
