drilled head AN bolts

I know theres a few aircraft tinkerers on here so- has anyone got a box of drilled head AN bolts floating around? I'm setting up lockwiring practice tasks for the students so could do with as many bolts as i can get my grubby little mitts on.

likewise, any U/S parts that could be used for practicing on actual components would be good too!

Blimey Dan, are they still using wire-locking in aerospace?!

Anything I would have had would have been from my Hunter, Buccaneer and Gannet days. From '82 I went all American (C130, C17) and the only thing they wire-lock is electrical plugs. Oh, and mainwheel hub caps

get em drilling...that'd be a good start....

Hmmm… takes me back to my apprenticeship days, I was at Davies works, had to drill the heads of a batch Titanium bolts for one of the reactors with an 1/8” has drill, for wiring up…what a boring job… ( no pun intended..)

You don't need AN bolts to practice lock wiring, any bolt head should do.
Get some grade 2 stuff and drill them.
I modified my lock wire pliers by carefully belt sanding the jaw edge, so as not to make a sharp dent in the wire.
Also I pre-bend the 2 wires at the hole (using the modified jaw to pinche them in tite to the hole) so you don't need to wind the wires so tite
to get them to hug the bolt head (and keep from swinging up and over)
Makes a neater job of it.

I have a drawer with a good few Rolls Royce bi-hex unf bolts bought on Ebay many years ago for chump change. They were even in little baggies of ten with Rolls Royce on, £5 for ten mixed bags, I couldn't possibly not buy some.

The 300 & 500 are covered in the darn stuff, you dont know pain till the wire has slid between flesh and fingernail, dam the eng that does not bend the raw ends over
