recovery from dartford to southampton

Fair enough, suppose the cost of everything is passed down. Rent a trailer and pick it up yourself? I bit the bullet years ago and bought one but both the tow car and trailer paid for themselves many times over in money saved! Time is the biggest factor when getting anything yourself…

Agree, I had a tri axle ifor , but so many of a certain type trying to get it, is it for sale mate etc etc , how do they know when its parked behind locked gates with 2 metre fences , anyways it became a liability rather than an asset so I sold it before I lost it , parked up my iveco daily due the hassle of O license with trailer etc etc , if it isnt the P*****s trying to clean you out its the red tape brigade making it ridiculous to be self employed. Now retired thankfully, but I like to keep hands on with kit.
have tried to buy trailer for last eight months or more , prices through the roof now and because of that TER check tells you a lot are rather hot, and I am not interested in those. Shame but those are the facts of life , hence I would rather let some one else do the haulage which is a pity as I love that sort of thing , iveco 6.5 ton with 16 foot tri axle, what was not to like.

for a while you had every one and his cousin doing recoveries ,transits with multi layers of extra rear leafs running over weight and over hours ,ex tesco delivery iveco s, single rear tyres converted doing thesame, you could not legitamtly compete financialy against these , seems thats changed all of asudden ? I say over hours all though no tacho required in most cases.

Not sure, most will need a newish lez compliant truck, fuel,insurance, and running costs rack up.

if they cant make a profit at £2 a mile each way on a transit size truck they should be stacking shelves at tesco , dont get me wrong understand how prices are , but thats strong monies , for a 6.5/7.5 truck yes that would be understandable

L200 is the lions share of two tons, will that legally go on a transit sized truck? Might be a 4x4 and trailer job.

got a spare trailer @8ob only teasing fella , theft ...is the only reason I sold my last trailer , was getting constantly hounded at the door by a certain type of folk.

I think that one of the reasons for recovery cost even small cars are seriously heavy these days compared to fifteen /twenty years ago

I have a trailer here you can swing by and borrow on the way to Dartford, I can retrieve it from southampton at a later date.

I would if I was going but seems the guy has started to dismantle, and cut the loom to the engine..which was supposedly a good runner , so my thinking is he has done it for a reason obviously ,so going to pass.

very very much appreciate the offer but I am going to pass, speaking to the guy he has started to dismantle truck, well the engine was a good runner supposedly but he has now cut the loom so it cant be started , which rings warning bells eh. I mean why would you do that , espescially when they are all click connectors anyways ! so really good of you to offer and it is heart warming that there are so many decent folk on this forum.
