Hyraaulic ram advice

Hi folks, thought it was a bit too cheap to be true for what it is and that might appear to be the case, when I pump the pedal on this spring compressor the ram moves about 8mm up then drops back down, doesn’t appear to be a stuck release pedal as when the release pedal is pressed the ram won’t move when pumping it up, there’s no leaking fluid could it just be not enough oil?
there doesn’t appear to be a fill plug and was wondering if I took the big nut off the top and put some oil in it is that the correct way to top up the oil, it’s brand new, should just send it back but I need it to work as I’m stuck with a removed strut now.

You'll have a hell of a job getting the top nut off the cylinder, ask me how I know...
There'll be a small plug (second pic, near the top of the cylinder?), often rubber and just pushed in, that'll let you at the oil reservoir - should be filled to that level.
It may just need bleeding, or the non-return (ball against a seat, usually accessible through a drilling with a plug screwed into it) may be stuck/have crap under the ball?

First off is the Yellow "VeVor" decal.
Have returned a few items, got stuck with a useless Magdrill from them.
I don't buy anything from them anymore.

You were correct, took off the rubber plug and put about 1/4 pint of hydraulic fluid in before it came up to the level, pumped it a hundred odd times and it’s still doing the same, silly question how do you bleed these? Pumping the pedal doesn’t work

Got this to work, I tried the procedure on the video, helped a bit but it only pumped up so far and it wouldn’t compress, eventually pulled the ram up as I was pumping it, to its full extension, had to do this 4 times but now it’s working and I got the spring off yay!
Must have been full of air, now that it’s working it appears to be a very safe way of removing a spring.
