Car LPG refueling ??

dosnt matter if its gas or oil sooner or later your going to run out of it

and if no oil how are your going to grease parts or oil them as they wont be much left to do that if you dont stop sometime

as goes for electric well its either go back to the old trams system

but that aint going to go down well with so many drivers having there independence and living in the fields as trams aint going to exist out there

so what are you left with expensive batterys and that will dry up unless they can figure a way to get a cheaper battery

not in the uk though as we have to import expensive stuff here to even build a battery

Just goes to show what a load of B/S all this environmental crap is. LPG is far less harmful to the environment than petro/diesel and there banning it........

AFAIK there is no ban on LPG.

As I understand, it is not profitable enough for the companies to keep the supply network running, so they are closing it down.
I think a lot of the business was built off the back of LPG grants, now the incentives are focused on EV, there isn't the demand for LPG.

It is a bit silly, because if there was more incentive, it is would be an easy win for a significant CO2 reduction of existing vehicles.
Still I suppose if we don't have a use for it, we can always go back to burning it off at the refinery.

That's pretty much the sum of it.
Apparently the big chains have dropped it as it only accounts for 0.2% of road fuels so they stop selling it on a cost/profit basis rather than any sort of environmental reason.
Presumably several more perfectly serviceable cars will get scrapped as the owners struggle finding reliable lpg sources.

Most of the pumps I have seen removed are now ev charging points..

We always have a use for gas these days, its what half of Europe's electricity is generated with and that's why it went so absolutely ballistically expensive last year when there was a shortage.

Only a couple of fourcourts left doing it now and the price has gone up 5p each time another sited closed.
There are quite a few backyard places doing lpg at 70-75p/l so the bulk cost must be somewhere below that but I was paying 52p/l in 2016 when I first started using it seriously

This thread is a bit of a blast reminding me of driving around big V8s achieving 12mpg with LPG conversions, small tanks, range of a hundred miles or so and an uncertainty if the next LPG pump would actually work. Bit like older EVs in some parts of the country now.

Although we still have one working LPG pump here it is disappointing to hear issues around the country. I had LPG on multiple petrol vehicles and even on my Td5 at one stage, engine oil was always cleaner and emissions much reduced.

Just one of the refillable lpg tank suppliers (mostly motorhome/camper style things) says he is only got busier since covid and is selling around 20 a week. That's quite a few people who will be wanting lpg pumps to fill up (if they ever finish the builds!)

I would think it’s going to get busier with Calor phasing out some of the cylinder sizes, the small one is going, can’t recall the size,abou 3 kilo, this is the one used by a lot of the campers & caravans. My friend has a nearly new Carthago van conversion, this takes 2 of them, to find they are going to be unobtainable.

I've already done a couple of modifications on some horse lorries so they can fit different size bottles in...
Those aren't bad to do as it's generally Angle iron frames slung underneath with plenty of spare room. Easy to fit a refillable tank to them as well.

get the decanting hose out and fill of a 47kg if u can aford them . 90 quid a pop now a refill just got rid of an empty one sick of it lying around

Gas is history - they just don't sell any volume now - plus they gotta make space for substations for DC injection charging for EV's

Can't you just weld up (this here is a Welding forum eh ?) a new back bumper/rack
and put 3-4 of the 20 lb BBQ bottles across the back ?
Make nice clamp bars and all, much like on the front hitch of a caravan trailer.

I know someone who mounted 2 pairs of air cylinders on the front of his rescue ambulance to power the air tools, local plod advised him to remove them as it was a bit dangerous.

Ok sods law, i was about to look at buying a NIssan Patrol 4.2 petrol / LPG for dragging te boat. Now i see that the pain in the **** power at be are phasing out LPG at the pumps.

Is there a legal...legit way to refule these LPG cars ?

Link where they are banning LPG at the pumps for cars please? Googled it there and not finding much about LOG at the pump. Some mention of boilers being phased out.
