Why is a bit of folded sheet steel so expensive?

Well it is £130 if you buy it in the U.S. so you have to add at least £80 of "Rip Off Britain" tax for a start.
Then it is USA made, so that's at least $100 worth for the stars and stripes sticker...

SWAG products have always seemed pricey for what they are IMO.
That said, I bet you can't buy the steel and have it laser cut for that thesedays.

The Swag Offroad gear seems to have had something akin to a cult following for years. They probably were one of, if not the, first to produce a table for those saws though, as I recall.

Swag use bent plates because it's cheap, a laser cut top and welded 25 x 1.5mm box frame shouldn't cost more than £80 in materials.

You don't get a lot for <£100 nowadays. Why shouldn't they make a profit? They have the materials, machinery, someone's wages to make it, someone to pack it up, postage etc etc.

You think they are making them in house ?
I suspect china is banging them out, or else the lowest cost laser shop of the week, if locally.

Even so, why should a company not make a profit? If people are buying them then no complaints from me. If you can find a cheaper alternative you are happy with then choose that. I don't have one by the way, this goes for anything!

If you were in the business of design and fabricate (which I happen to be)
You would recongnize a profit margin of at least 500% on that item.

I never said there wasn't. I just don't disagree with making a profit. Is there another choice? I made my own bandsaw table, probably for half the cost and ten times as strong. But if you want something quick and easy that will work and are happy to pay, what's the problem?

The Swag one differs from that above. They're designed to make a handheld bandsaw, (or portaband, as the Yanks seem to call them), into a vertical static saw.

I'm sure your all up in arms when fuel goes up 5%.
Along with Water, sewer, electricity, trash collection, taxes, special driving lanes etc.
