Hi all, I know there's been many posts in the past about this, but I need some help sifting through it all. I want to paint my project car, it's a Subaru Impreza. Two options are the metallic WR Blue colour or the solid Pure White colour (which I favour). I've never attempted this before so have no kit. Reading various other threads, I've come up with a few things and have my eye on a 100l compressor, 3hp, 14.6cfm. Would that be ok? I'll also be buying myself a decent sander etc.
When it comes to paint, I know nothing. Should I be using 2K paint? If I use 2K paint, do I need a 2nd compressor for an air fed mask? Is there a realistic option that will give a good, durable finish without using 2K? I'd guess I need to use a primer, a base coat and a clear coat? Where is a good place to buy these things?
I don't have an indoor space, so my loose plan at this point is a 3 sided Gazebo facing my garage, garage door up to create a longer sheltered area and some sheeting over the gaps between the gazebo and the garage. I could put a large fan in there and keep the back door of the garage open to create airflow. Any reasons this wouldn't work? There's another car in the garage that can't be moved currently, hence the reason for doing it this way.
What kind of spray gun/guns should I be looking at? I don't want anything costing the earth, but I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for good gear. Oh, and do guns come with regs or are they something you need to buy separately? Same question for water filters/traps and compressors.
Appreciate any help given.
