I found controling temperature of the item better than controlling the temp of the paint.
Add some owatrol oil, and get it on QUICK.

I use zinc phosphate high build primer with enamel top. All hand painted

The zinc phosphate high build looks interesting.
I didn't look very hard, but I didn't know it came in high build.
I use epoxy as it's fantastic on bare steel and you can get it on thick if need be. I really dislike using any kind of 2k paint though as I hate having to then make sure I use all that's mixed, or I'm wasting paint.

I'll try what your using next time I think.

It took 2 months of painting every day to work out how to do it!
Painted the tank probably 10 times untill I worked out the brush stroke order and temperature needed to not get and marks or sags!
I do like enamel though, lovely finish.

The high build is nice to use. It goes on nice as the castings are slightly rough. I remove all factor filler as I hate the stuff. It goes on thick enough to get a good finish but you can still see the old casting marks and that's what I like

Today sunshine get on with cleaning the shaper body. Need it spotless before taking it in the shed for final prep.

That's the shaper body all cleaned inside and outside. It now go on the little bench for phase two.

Today. Primer inside and out. Re cut all thread holes . Other side to do tomorrow.

Today. Primer the other side a sort the gib strip. The top of the gib was painted from factory but unfortunately I was in the zone and for some reason I polished it...it will stay like it now f it.

It will pop against the machinery grey enamel paint when done.
