Ultrasonics

Been hankering for an ultrasonic for years, I also wanted one tonclean vinyl records. I needed 6l bit saw a really good deal on a 10l on Amazon. Unsurprisingly the order was cancelled by the Chinese seller.
Few months later and the same deal pops up from.a different seller and this time, it actually turned up!
10L ultrasonic for £103!

I figured if your shopping in theblower part of this market, they will all be the same. And if it fails, it will probably be a transducer falling off.

So now I need to decide on a liquid. Not for records, but for cleaning general dirt, grime and grease off tools, vehicle parts, machine parts etc.
I guess I need to remove most of the grease first.
Can I just use any water based degreaser, diluted to the normal recommended level?

I use this stuff only need a tiny amount in water and it lasts for ages

Ok, so basically, any water based degreaser, diluted, is fine?I have 5 litres I got from the industrial cleaning supplies guy at newark. It's the best water based degreaser Ive ever used.
I'll try that.

Is that afterwards or before.. I ask as you can get them spotlessly clean with the correct gear

Simple Green is the best stuff I've used. Not sure its available here. Main take is it contains Limonene.

Limonene. (aka D-Limonene), is freely available, it should be like warm syrup to pour. If not its been watered down. You need very little for it to clean.

Thats after 30 mins it ws a complete blob of hardened grease, it would be better if I left it for longer but the carbs not a keeper.

They work alot better if you get the bulk off first.

I use clean tap water in the tank, and put the part/s in a suspended plastic bag with whatever I want to use as the cleaner.

maybe a bit of both ,,, it was all I had to hand , but it certainly helped cut through the grease on nosepads ,,,
anyone who wears glasses ,,, please occasionally give them a wash under warm water with some hand soap you wouldnt believe what some people wear day in day out ,,,,

I have a heated 25l tank with 20l of de-ionised water and 5l of screwfix 'no nonsense' degreaser in it. I had a lawn mower in today that wouldn't run, carb clogged (stale fuel) and I put the carb in for 20 minutes. Nothing else was used, no scrubbing, just into the tank, remove, rinse off and blow with an air gun. Most important was that it ran sweet as a nut, secondary was that it came out sparkling.

I was involved in doing lots of ultrasonic cleaning professionally and I tend to think the additives specifically formulated for the purpose are worth having. Check out Allendale.

You sound like the man to answer a question, or share an opinion at least. I use de-ionised water as that was recommended to help with the cleaning process. It works well enough for me and it's not expensive, but as someone with experience/knowledge in the field; does it help? If so, how?

Most of what mine does will be with a mixture of distilled water, Isopropyl, and wetting agent, as it will be cleaning vinyl records and you don't want anything else on them!

I am however going to use it before hand to clean some other stuff, but that won't be it's main use. I may even buy a second one for cleaning workshop stuff.
