Cheap engine oil

I need a gallon of mineral oil (viscosity not that important) to flush out an engine. It'll only be in the engine for about 15 minutes before getting poured down the sink so I begrudge paying £30 for it. Any ideas where I can find something? The internet on this occasion has not been particularly helpful

P.S. I was kidding about pouring it down the sink by the way

Your local everything store such as Boyes etc usually stock it. My local motor factors also keep it.

Grade is SA

Gone are the days of cheap oil, it wasn’t too many years ago I could do an oil change with filter for £10. I recon you’ll probably be able to get something like a 10w40 semi synth for less than £3 a litre if you shop about…

I think we are paying about £5 a gallon atm for semi synthetic in 200ltr barrels.Not seen it cheap anywhere in small quantities.

fully synthetic 5-- 30 for under 20 never see the 0 thirty though 45 quid a gallon

I used a gallon of parafin last time I flushed an engine out….then a bit oil, drained that…..

Cheepest 5/30w I buy in is £3.09 per litre at cost in 208ltr barrels (Quantum 5/30w SyntaZ).

I don't stock any semi synthetic oils at all now..

Most newer motors take 0/20w or 0/30w now - this is expensive.

just changed the oil on wifeys car and my pug van . both use 0/30 big ££££ people say use 5/30 but no chance on newish vehicles the oil is thinner and better in winter specialy on a turbo . oil gets round quicker on start up

One of the receipts included with the ex's new car, was an old one for engine work, cleaning sludge out of the top end - with the recommendation to do more frequent oil changes, rather then using flushing oil for fear of the flushing oil doing too good a job and causing too much crap to come loose and block things that shouldn't be blocked.

Not sure how true that is - but it was a fear I had 20 plus years ago when I bought some and read the label, so I have to 20 yr old unopened flushing oil going . . .
