computer talk youtube crashed firefox and google scrolling

the firefox crash was caused by youtube of all places and an enforcement of clearing your cookie cache by youtube when you entered the youtube page
whilst the page slowed down and failed to load correctly.

this weekend ive spent a day digging around my system to get my favourate bookmarks back.

ive had firefox for years and yes ive suffered crashes and lost my favorate bookmarks before now, its why i back favourate bookmarks up from time to time

over the years ive learnt to have 2 search engines installed and ive finally added a third install of an online search engine ( firefox and opera others are usable )

you can use opera to save your bookmarks from a crashed search engine the same as you can with firefox, as you have to import them into your search engine

google infinate scrolling was switch on 3 days ago by google

ive seen it with windows 10 and on youtube and hate it as it tends to slow down pcs and tablets rather well you see more advertisers junk than what you was searching for

youtube uses it on there page and you can install an anti scrolling to stop it however ive noticed it also enforces area search more, i prefer worldwide search

google has now gone into infinate scrolling mode by its searches and its filled up with more adverts than what you was searching for you have to scroll down enough just to get to what you was searching for

pic search you now have to click on it to get other searches included as it deems it not sellable so dosnt include it on the search

page search was better as you used to have a choice of how many links you could see before you had to click on new page

ive already tried disabling scrolling on google and it refuses to switch back to page mode

I thought given your tin foil tendencies, you'd be using DuckDuckGo as your favourite search engine, not Google?

PS. FireFox, Opera, Chrome etc are not 'search engines', they're web browsers.
DDG, Google. and Bing are search engines.

ive tried microcrap explorer ( bing ) before and it only searched half the net

whilst aol ( ao hell ) also did just a third of the net

google tended to do worldwide searches in the early days, but not anymore as its getting to only search in the area that you live in due to the area you install it

its becoming crap due to enforcing you to search only in the country you live in

Google isn't 'installed on' FireFox, it's just the selected default search engine, just like Bing is the default for Edge (Internet Explorer has now be EOL for several years).

If you go into the web browser settings, you can change the default search engine to pretty much whatever search engine you'd like.
You could even set it to only search this site if you wanted it to.

I don't really see the issue with search engines using localisation.
For 99% of users, they want the most relevant results, not what happens to score highest in a worldwide search scoring system.

I'm surprised if you're so reliant on Google, that you don't use Chrome. It even has a free VPN plugin so you can pretend to be wherever you want to be in the world.

I can't see Youtube videos on this group, they just show black. I can see a preview if I drag the progress point back and forth, but when left to play nothing shows.

i prefer worldwide searches as it finds more stuff than your localisation others are fine if they want it that way but worldwide is better

youtube has also gone the same way it will only search uk only ive switched that up to worldwide as you get more results that way

google wont let you switch it to worldwide it used to do but not anymore

chrome i dont like never have done, im not keen on opera but it has its uses as ive used it often firefox i do use

but i use the addons for firefox and opera

the video is there unless you have something blocking the video from showing it should show via this page on the forums

Yes, something has changed, no idea what I've messed with to stop Youtube showing. I can watch on the Youtube app itself, but not any embedded videos on forums or websites like this.

it might not be you it could be a mutlitude of things

from windows 10-11 update
firewall
explorer ( firefox, opera, bing or others )
even a virus can change a setting ( not saying that you have one on your system )
a setting with your explorer that needs ticking again so embeded video plays
or it could be that embeded video blocker on a website thats blocking you

ive only had a pc since mid 2001 had enough of microsoft explorer so probably installed it when it first came out

sick of the viruses and also did away with downloaded emails to pc at the same time

was really sick of them

I'm on an iPad using Safari. I don't recall updating anything recently. I do have an ad blocker, so I may trawl through the various settings and see if I can find something.

i said i had 3 websearch engines installed on the pc

wether one goes down i always have a back up to use

its just taking some finding are the old links i wanted to reinstall them back onto a websearch engine to then transport it to another websearch engine to finally sort it out

and im 1 1/2 days in sorting it all out

i have that many saved website links

it takes a minute to scroll down to the bottom of recently added website links

YouTube doesn't do sound on my Android device of preference, a kindle fire thing, so I had to install a YouTube app, which works.

I've given up trying to understand computers, they work or they don't.

The PC in the living room won't communicate with the monitor since last week, I think it's heading towards the bin.

i websearch alot and save web links in bookmarks if your firefox crashes you can loose all those pages that you have saved

in this case youtube crashed firefox internet browser something i wasnt expecting as it wanted me to clear my websearch cache something that i didnt want to do as thats my search history.

I normally get crashes from elsewhere

if you havent saved or backed up your bookmarks then you havent got any bookmark saves

as goes for the videos i want i do get them one way or another hence the reason to have 3 internet browsers installed

Just use Brave browser, no problems, no ads on youtube and not trackers or anyfink.

But I did notice the other day some of my older vids on my YT channells has dissappeared.

many vids have gone from youtube

either the person has closed the account or youtube has closed the account, its why i use alternatives if its the video i want to save, then ive always got a copy of it so if its deleted or the weblink no longer exists ive still got access to it

then i can use vlc to take a screen shot of the still video to post a pic up from the video file
