I already have another ac/dc tig welder with a WP20, I wanted this unit to replace my Oxford 300 Welder for stick welding and cardon arc gouging.WP18 would be about right for it, a bit clumsier than a WP20 though - and of course both would need a torch cooler (if you don't have one - a litre/min at 30 - 50psi). WP18 are rated for 350A, WP20 for 200/250A. I must get a WP20 for mine, now i've got the cooler sorted out *again*, don't really go much over 150A!

I don't think a 220amp max 1 phase welder has the enough power in reserve for carbon arc gouging...
