I've been using it in my Clarke 150TE recently (which is hardwired for torch positive polarity) and it welds just fine. Yet everyone says it's a no-no. Why is doing this so bad? Can anyone explain?
I think you're missing the point George. The question was about correct polarity for gasless wire, not using the stuff in principle. My, you're touchy.
