Fan wiring ?

These 240 v 1 phase fans won't run on just black and red wires, I think the yellow is a speed control , anyone know anything about these ?

If they're anything like the ones I've seen, therell be a sticky label with watts and capacitor value on the motor section - x number of uF.

That'll want a cheap capacitor - 2 or 3 uF, 400 working volts (always more thanthe supply!) and be sure to specify *run* capacitor if ordering - the other "start" variety will do a great impression of a chaff launcher if run continuously. Likely to be connected between the red and yellow - you may find if pput between black and yellow it'll run in the other direction!

just give the firm a ring up and ask them it gives you the for spares quote on motor plate
