Oxyacetylene query .

i seen a guy trying to fill his acetylene bottle from his mates bottle once, he had them hooked up with welding hose lying down ffs, despite my extreme bad language i still don't think he understood just how bad that could go
i didnt hang around to find out

boc used to do a kit for this to fill portapaks off large bottles acetylene is low pressure and as long as the bottles are upright i cant realy see a problem i itake it be good practice to purge any air out the line before coupling to the recieving vessel pressure would equalise then settle turn off vavles

Managed to get a partial refund on my impax oxy kit. As was used and was listed as unused so have paid £35 for a full set worth around £280 on Amazon.
The hoses are only standard grade .
I’m looking to either straight up use the acetylene regulator on a propane bottle or considering buying a propane regulator and a t grade hose.
On the fence still as it’s only very light use and learning that I’m doing in the first instance. I get long term I will need to change the hose if I’m running propane through it.
Considering also to buy a set of nozzles for the torch for a more precise flame for the lead welding
I hear that model o is the ideal set up but surely this kit will be sufficient?
The torch is good, I have flashback arrestors, all the kit for oxyacetylene welding.. it’s the nozzle size and regulator/hose that is the only issue right? I don’t see the benefit of spending £300+ on model o when I can just modify this for a further £50. Thought please. Thanks again

What exactly are you wanting to do with lead welding.
Just flat supported but joints.
Vertical , in situ detailed welding etc etc

Mainly just chimney aprons, ridge saddles made in my workshop to fit on the job .

You can get model o adapter necks for o size tips, the torch will be a bit big but ok for downland aprons etc
Oxy propane will be ok, acetylene is better. The tips are different for the two

BOC have an offer on for the Model O torch and nozzles in a case at just under £120 at the moment.
