Our green bin split while it was standing on the yard, nothing to do with the lorry lift. I just drilled some holes either side of the split and stitched it with tie wraps.

It's the future, we'll all be eating turnips when the lettuce runs out.

Apologies for taking this a tad off thread but I've just realised square/rectangular glass is no good for a geodesic dome.
Need to be hexagonal or triangular I think...
Do I really want to start cutting old glass in hexagons?

I’ll send you a dxf. No good for cutting but the boy can print it on paper so you get the shapes.

I was making good progress today
That bar steward called ivy is jolly hard work to remove, roots and runners everywhere
Then this happened
Was the go to tool for clearing the ground and chopping up the runners
Manual labour has ceased for the day, but the fun will continue, I have a mate comming to see me …..

Good job this is a welding forum
I assembled a huge greenhouse on our community allotment...over the winter (2 years ago) it was hit by a storm...I swear you'd think a mortar round had hit the bloomin thing! Glass was a pain to clean up (pun intended)...not sure I'd use unlaminated glass ever again!

I found that it comes up in great long lengths if you don a pair of stout gloves and just pull. Back breaking mind for this 50 something, soft Southerner!
I lobbed it and everything else in the base of my bean trench. Set fire to it all and raked the ash flat. Then I built the trench back up in layers of sifted soil, grass cuttings, compost.

I was using the mini rake mattock thing to do just that. Soften up the soil a bit, then pull the roots out. Chop with the mattock.
I tried a few other tools but they just didn’t work very well
I have plan B which involves a rotovator….

Before you build add up the cost of DIY…..not much different to buying…..and then time. We have a green house and raised beds, but it's so time consuming, the raised beds are going this year…..thinking grass and auto mower.
