Found this today in the boot of the A30, anyone seen one before?
I still use a radiator muff on my Series 2 Land Rover in the depths of the winter.
(Radiator Muff that has been repurposed from its previous life as a fertiliser bag)![]()
@Robostar5 That should be in the interesting vehicle thread i started, although that said i lost it lol
This place never fails to amaze!Radiator Muff for an A30/35
Laced onto the radiator grill in winter to block air flow and speed up warming. Drop down centre portion for when/if the car reaches operating temperature.
Went with 'Town and Country' tyres and lacquering chrome work in my youth.
Old blankets over the engine and paraffin heater under the sump too.
That's a proper muff job.
Youll be bringing out the rose tinted specs next and selling the good points of the Austin Allegro!Cor. Rad muffs. Something I saw often as a small kid on older cars, but had completely forgotten about.
(There was still quite a few cars on the road with those Semaphore indicators that swung out of the pillar, and you regularly saw those funny wishy-washy blue 3-wheel Invalid Carriage things... stuff long consigned to history).
The old man had an All-aggro. Hard to sell good points on one lol. He passed it on to my Aunt - she drove it harder than him (not hard) & it cooked itselfYoull be bringing out the rose tinted specs next and selling the good points of the Austin Allegro!

My dad's improvised radiator muff.
Nice!
Sadly, 441KAL is now on a white Mercedes, (still on a deisel tho!)
Friend built a (not road-legal) trike.I transplanted an allegro engine into a mini it had no top end but would spin it's wheels in second gear![]()
All this could account for the 'Codgers Corner' thread. This place never fails to amaze!
