50 series John Deere toggle switch

So i took the switch apart as much as a
I could. Now, i think the little nylon? Ptfe? plunger on the centre of the toggle is flexing and getting stuck in one orientation. My pics are a bit naff but hopefully show how its setup. What would the white plastic part be and where could I easily get a rod of the same stuff or equivilent thats 4mm diameter and 12mm long?!

EBay 4mm nylon rod would be the obvious solution.

@reb78 worth shopping around between dealers. I phoned up a mower place (John Deere dealer) for a replacement mower deck £600+VAT. Out of curiosity phoned the local tractor John Deere dealership. They had one in a container and would sell it to me for £380 including the VAT

Knitting needle. Plastic spiky thing you stick into the garden.

Look at the part's function and assess what characteristics it needs to do its job as that might open up some choices. If it is in a switch, does it have to be non-conductive? If not, that allows you to use metal. Does it need some small flexibility or can it be rigid?

Yes. I could make any rocker switch fit. I kinda wanted something in keeping if possible. I cant quite beleive the cost of a si.ple.switch from JD!

Jd dealer price is actually a few pence cheaper on a stock order than nick Young price for the switch.

Stiff but not brittle. Non conductive - which is a pain as a broken drill bit shank would probably be ok otherwise.

Try the push pin out of a plastic push rivet they are close to that dimension

Oh definitely, anything that's near jd paint is expensive.

One thing that's impressive with deere though is their parts for older machines, the amount of times you here of people looking for discontinued parts for other makes and generally deere have everything.

Think nick young is one of the main jd breakers in the country and has a good reputation. Did I miss it was this a price for a new switch or a salvage part? Does he have a salvage one should be less than half new price.
