Anyone Got a Oyn-x CCTV Recorder

A while ago I picked up this recorder along with other stuff.

I thought it was a PVR for TV but it turns out its for recording cctv cameras, which is handy as I want to fit cctv at the workshop.

I connected it up earlier to a tv & its working but I think the hd might be screwed. It's very difficult to use the menus using just the fascia buttons, am I correct in thinking that it should have a remote control?

What I'd really like is a manual & remote for it to see if its worth fitting another hd to it. (it uses a 3.5" sata drive).

Can't find any info online apart from places selling new stuff.

Can any one offer some help or advice?

Looks similar to ours I dont know if this helps. oops how does one attach a pdf file ah no worries looks like its there fitting a new HD is simple

Having searched for info on 'oyn-x cctv' & getting nowhere I did a random search for 'oyn-x remote control' & got a link to a manual Lo & behold it was my exact model!
As @carbon said, you use a mouse to control it. I'm now properly able to access the menus & all seems to be working, including the hdd!

Here's the spooky part - there is 3 months of camera footage stored on it from 2018 so I decided to have a look. The scene looked familiar to me & I realised that the camera was the one looking on the car park at out men's shed! It was before I joined but I had a lot of fun clicking on random dates & trying to work out who the members were from their car or the way they walked! The film quality is so poor you couldn't make out faces or reg nos, so not much good as a security measure!
I was able to pick out Anthony by his size & gait, a big kind gentleman who passed away only a few weeks ago.
I bought this at a local auction along with a couple of Humax pvr's, what were the odds of a shed member buying it!

I'm going to try & save some of the footage on a thumb drive before reformatting the hdd for my own use.

I have recovered footage on damaged drives, if they are linux based they used to use ext3 file format so you can see them with a linux operating system or some clever software, as for the unit i have seen it sold by Adata so the might have some legacy software on their website.. or try somewhere like below

that's too old to bother with, it's for old analogue cameras, you need digital cameras, the quality difference is shocking

search term to look for is IP POE camera

(IP means it's digital, POE means power over ethernet so it takes power and data over a single cable)

To me that is bin fodder,

As said above too old for modern Highdef cameras

look at doris-cvtv for new ones and they sometimes have decent deals.

Where it is going it will not be easy to connect it to the wifi so I'll try it hooked up to this HDR & see what the results are like.

that's a digital camera.... it won't work with your analoug NVR

Analogue cameras are capable of more than adequate quality for many purposes.

if you put them side by side the difference is shocking.... that's how I decided to swap to IP cameras... mounted one right next to by best alanoug camera....

IP camera was only a cheap 3mp one but it blew the analough one away quality wise, night vision wise, every way possible tbh

No argument digital is way better than analogue but if you have some analogue its better than nothing
