Funnily enough I was thinking about Bedford and the places I worked in the 80s, did a lot in the chocolate factory and had access to the seconds shop, soon got bored with it though! used to do a lot at a foundry where they made the big cast backbones for pianos, cant remember where it was now, Jordans Mill where they did the cereals and never ate cereal again after working there! some big old train repair places, the list was endlessBedford is my home town always lived near it
Apart from a few years back it held the uks top knife crime for three years taking it from London… even tkmaxx stopped selling kitchen knives due to it!!
Other than this the town is famous for housing the dehavilland museum in shuttleworth

We also had meltis the makers of toblerone and other choccys
Danfoss used to have a huggggge site on the ampthill road I remember it when I was a nipper and it was humongous to say the least

We also have the corrupt Lockheed plant in Ampthill just a few mins from the town
There’s loads more without even beginning to search from the top of my head
