As i am in Wolverhampton i know so many of the old places well, Villiers is close by and i still go places and find new names and look them up, a sad shame there is no local museum here showing what used to be made here, the black country museum is good but could never cover all the places and document local history.

Compair BroomWade had a place in High Wycombe. They had a couple of our machines in there. They were bought out by Ingersoll Rand.There’s a ‘Compair Way’ in Ipswich. Often wondered if that’s where the factory was.

We still manufacture stuff in the UK, we still send it all over the world, "Made in England" still means something in places around the world. I delight in telling US customs the reason I'm visiting - that we make stuff they can't . . . they mostly take it well
Hurco mills are at least partially built in High Wycombe, I had a look around the other week. Mazak have a site in Coventry where they assemble machines too, haven't got to visit that one yet though.My pal recently bought a four axis Mill and despite his best efforts, a Chinese machine was eventually purchased
