Bigger Chinese diesel heater?

So today my Chinese diesel heater has died, the fan is not running so won't light. Its been a bit noisy for a whilst so I'm not surprised.

Now is a standard 5kw unit and I'd like to replace it with something bigger as it doesn't get heat to the aft cabin.

Are there any bigger options for the Chinese stuff or is it a more expensive brand until I'm going to need?

Being chinese rated it's difficult to know what you are getting for sure. I beleive they burn cleaner flat out, I'm not sure about efficiency though, maybe run 2 smaller units? If the cost is comparable.

From what I understand from other forums on the t'internet, so it must be true!! The Chinese heaters come in a choice of sizes ie. 3, 5, and 8 kwh but they are all the same at 4 kwh. If you want more output, as said, have two or go for machines from Webasto or Eberspacher, which may carry a price premium.

The Chinese heaters come in two sizes only. The bigger size is sold as 5kw or 8kw (but it's well established that the output is less than 4kw).

I fitted two of the heaters to get more output. I wall mounted them otherwise they take up too much space. I used a key cabinet to hide the power supply and pumps.

It's a shame they don't make a bigger one, the standard one can't get hot air to the aft cabin, the rest of the outlets are OK and after a few hours managed to get the seating area to 19/20 degrees.


I'd removed an eberspacher d5 as it would fire up so I may dig that out and Test it to see if I can get that running again.

If not I'll just buy another Chinese one

Is the ducting insulated? Makes a big difference.

I am going to install 2 of the 4kw ones in parallel - connected into the same ducting using a Y piece which you can buy quite easily.

These are brilliant. The control unit is the same as my AGA.
The only thing is they are VERY tricky to light - certainly not switch on and go.

Statements like this make me itchy. Iso 9001:2015 is a quality management standard and has nothing to do with heater construction and use.

They don’t exist. Simple as that. Chinese lies and lots conned by them far too essily.

People don’t read, understand or check the specifications. Most claim their 8kW cheap chinese heaters are really efficient because they don’t use much diesel. Fact is that they are expecting to get more energy than the fuel contains!!!

8kw are actually 4kw!

In my defence I never mentioned the Chinese units, just that 8kw heaters are available, and they are from various manufacturers not based in the far east!

Maybe! Only if you follow the instructions

My process is, open the choke, prime the pump, squirt a load of brake cleaner in, strike a striker in there. Works every time.

If you follow the instructions you put fuel in that stupid ladle and light it.

All that seems to do is drip flaming diesel everywhere which is a bit sketchy!!
