GP told me not to stop completely at once, just ease out of it.Do it slowly, halving mind is making sleeping complicated.

Doctor told me the same about stopping unhealthy vices, slowly but steady. With this info at hand i have taken the decision to cut out the Costco cream cakes and after eight mints over a 10 year program as i don't want to shock my bodyGP told me not to stop completely at once, just ease out of it.
same here mate...i really enjoy a few roll ups with coffee each dayI had 3 pints yesterday, in the evening, even cut out my lunch time pint.
Just lay there for hours, thinking I'll never get to sleep, then in and out of weird dreams.
Same today, on my third pint, then I'll go to bed, it's an hour later here, nearly 11 pm, it's for the best I'm telling myself.
It's no fun cutting down on the alcohol, I really like it.
Cigs are more an issue, I've two months of patches, can't bring myself to open the box, I'll try harder.
Really easy to get used to your comfortable habits, you've had for years, but hey, got to be done.
That'll be the hardest, cafetiere of coffee in the morning with a roll up.same here mate...i really enjoy a few roll ups with coffee each day![]()
That is what gets me, I always roll a smoke while the kettle is on. Then sit with my coffee and smoke and contemplate the day ahead. It's almost like a ritual. One day it will just be the coffee! That'll be the hardest, cafetiere of coffee in the morning with a roll up.
I've managed before, but replaced it with vaping, convinced that's not the solution, replacing one addiction with another.
We'll see.
Bummer.Blood pressure 120/80 but cholesterol was 6 so I spent 5 years eating virtually no red meat no dairy and its now 7 what a waste of 5 years.
Is there a better way to start the day ?That is what gets me, I always roll a smoke while the kettle is on. Then sit with my coffee and smoke and contemplate the day ahead. It's almost like a ritual. One day it will just be the coffee!

30 here, two thirds of my lifeish. It must be a trades thing!![]()
I've been waking up that way for 25 years so far!
It's the morning coughing, which really gets me, only lasts a minute or two, but long enough to realise I'm a f#£kwit who needs to give up smoking, then I'll pour my coffee and roll a fag.
Makes me think of this, it's a note to myself.I was the same until Feb 2015, woke up, had my morning cough and felt something "snap" in my chest, turns out it was a collapsed lunghaven't smoked since, just vapes.
Get motivated to move more it’s a great startJust got back from the GP. English woman, very pleasant, tells me I have plenty of room to improve my lifestyle and health, lose weight, less booze etc, and hopefully not have to go on meds for the remainder of my days. I have to go back and see her in a month, so it's time to get grips with my life.
They also took bloods, and have booked an ECG.
I'm well impressed, it's definitely improved my outlook on the NHS. The rest is up to me.
I’m sure I said the same a few posts back???I could have told you that and I didnt need to spend 7 years in medical school. Still when the Dr tells you its time to make a change. Unlike one of our neighbours, vastly over weight, smokes, drinks has diabetes, was in hospital with some swollen legs issues. Came straight to-the pub before even going home when he was released.
Wont take long with less drink and more exercise to feel better.
Luckily I've never smoked, or I'd do that to excess as well. Beer and food, they're my vices. I once quit drinking for 16 years, but got drawn back in a decade or so ago.I had 3 pints yesterday, in the evening, even cut out my lunch time pint.

Cholesterol isn't necessarily caused by red meat and dairy though. Its far more complex than just what your eating.Blood pressure 120/80 but cholesterol was 6 so I spent 5 years eating virtually no red meat no dairy and its now 7 what a waste of 5 years.
Ahh, the joys of an addictive personality, hence I limit my vices.Luckily I've never smoked, or I'd do that to excess as well. Beer and food, they're my vices. I once quit drinking for 16 years, but got drawn back in a decade or so ago.

I speak openly about mineAhh, the joys of an addictive personality, hence I limit my vices.
And I've enough to deal with.
Oops 3 and a half pints, bed.
Sleep tight all.
I know for a fact, well proven over 45 years of drinking: beer makes me feel happy for a while, but then makes my life a misery.I speak openly about mine
I have an addictive personality disorder
Barmaids are my weakness, then I used to slip to other bad habits
There’s a great documentary on Netflix at the moment about it
The one that makes me laugh is I have a high IQ but I struggle to focus, sounds like an old FM radio scrolling through a dial in my head almost all of the time
