My only child, female, is less than impressed when I point out my shed and workshop, full of 'useful stuff'......that will all be hers one day

Just for fun after being good for ages last week i was 204/110 so im really high risk again, doctors have doubled my medication so im having a quiet week.

Been there (and worse) with heart failure to prove it. Really sad thing is my 8yr collie was diagnosed with same yesterday at vets. (HF). He's a good weight not overweight.

Common, mine was the same and GP couldn't tell me why it happens.

BP will reduce with multiple readings.
I was taught to ignore the first reading, wait two minutes, sitting quietly, then take another reading and use that one.
Technique, particularly where you site the pressure cuff can change the reading quite a bit.
The advice about age v. BP has changed and age is not seen as a critical factor.

Still 160/90 this morning, so called the GP and I have a 10 o'clock appointment. I really do hope it's more than just a 'you need to take this medicine for life, goodbye...' type conversation.
I really, really need to cut the down the beer though, that's a given.

I might need to do the same. The last fortnight has seen a steady climb from 135 average to 159 this morning. I have no intention of popping pills at ever increasing levels, so I have to be more disciplined with myself diet wise. If I lived on my own, it would be easy; doing the shopping myself would be another option but something else to add into my workload.

Just got back from the GP. English woman, very pleasant, tells me I have plenty of room to improve my lifestyle and health, lose weight, less booze etc, and hopefully not have to go on meds for the remainder of my days. I have to go back and see her in a month, so it's time to get grips with my life.
They also took bloods, and have booked an ECG.
I'm well impressed, it's definitely improved my outlook on the NHS. The rest is up to me.

I could have told you that and I didnt need to spend 7 years in medical school. Still when the Dr tells you its time to make a change. Unlike one of our neighbours, vastly over weight, smokes, drinks has diabetes, was in hospital with some swollen legs issues. Came straight to-the pub before even going home when he was released.
Wont take long with less drink and more exercise to feel better.

Well that's just the issue, I know it myself, but haven't done anything about it. Wake up calls are called that for just a reason.

So I was diagnosed, two months ago, and given a set of 2x day pills, after a month, not working, new set of pills, one in the morning, went by today for a checkup, all back to normal, 135 / 75, doesn't want to see me for six months, which suits me.
As of a month ago, felt better, less anxious and less shaky.
Slowly battling my vices, have nearly halved my drinking, which was getting a bit 'involved', cigs, some days better than others.
Little steps, as they say.

I don't get that drunk any more.
6 or 7 cans/bottles is/was my nightly tipple, every night. Hoping to halve that, or better.
And the snacking, the midnight beer munchies, that's the other thing that has to stop.
