not on mains gas here , so got £200 of the gov paid onto the elec bill today

would have had the heating on a bit more if id had it sooner

I get an update every time the govt payment goes in, I'm not sure if they even know I don't have mains gas though.

Apparently every household that has an electricity account but no gas account will get it automatically some time in February.

There will be an application process released at some point for the ones that don't get automatically detected

The first list they're going off is postcodes that don't have a mains gas connection, if you're in one of those then payment will be automatic to your electricity account. I'm on LPG in North Wales so will qualify by that route, just keeping a watch on my Shell energy account at the moment as they say it should be paid today or very soon after.

What a complete load of B o l l o c k s. Why cant you check if they are going to pay you. I live in an area that has gas supplies. I am not connected, so I have to wait for some mythical event to happen some time in the future to find out they dont know about me.

It's a grant. So it's given, not earned.
You'll get it but you might have to wait and then apply for it.

If you are a tax payer then you are already going to have to pay back more than you receive. Probably better that they don't spend even more money notifying every single person exactly when they will receive it...

I understand all that. They have a computer system that lists all properties/house/flats in the UK. All they need is 1 byte to record that I have gas or not, then I can check it, then they can contact me via email. It wont cost anyone a penny, the computer system runs all day every day. I will point out that you can get 256 values in 1 byte at could store loads of useful info, so if they get me to do the analysis, design and programming and unit testing, we will have it all working once they system test it, integration test it and finally user acceptance test it. The last steps will probably take years! Meanwhile I will have died of cold.

Oddly enough the £200 email arrived after lunch today.

"The payment is refundable, as long as you keep at least a month's worth of credit in your account. There’s more information in our Help Centre about getting a refund for credit in your account"

That actually sounds like I could actually take the money out to spend on loose women or beer?
My DD is £1 a month, and I've now got about 5 months credit built up at the moment, at the current rate.
