No more BMW police cars

In the 90's a local guy had a couple of fully liveried Sierra Sapphiire Cosworths he used mainly for transporting organs and transplant teams around the midlands, he was taking a team to Birmingham airport on blue lights when the engine let go at 120 mph on the A45, he said he was going to complain to Ford as the specs said it should do 140+ mph

His must have been a duff, my dad had one when I was a kid I saw 150mph from the back seat

Iv owned 3 sapphire cosworths and one of mine did 175mph it was a quick car

The scuzzbag driver will be out in a year and won't be bothered of he's got a driving licence or not.
Crims now are well aware of the system and how the penalties v reward is wholly imbalanced in their favour.
(The only person who needs to fear the Police and Justice System - is the basically law-abiding taxpayer in his legal, registered vehicle).

Talk about sticking to the road, I think I’ve been to that place in Northallerton, re-shelled an Integrale back in the 90’s and it was Northallerton where I got the shell.

Sounds like Walkers - integrale specialist in new and used parts.

Loaned me a hosepipe to cool a turbo to wind the wastegate actuator in a bit to stop mine boosting to gasket busting levels.

No police employee reductions for cars unfortunately.

The Park Lane BMW dealership in London was the UK dealer for authority spec BMWs, and supplied all vehicles to the Police, Ambulance etc.

This dealership also offered discounts to police staff. My Brother, a traffic cop with Police Scotland, just took delivery of his new 128ti a couple of weeks ago and he got a decent discount on it from them.

Sadly, BMW announced 3 weeks ago that they would be withdrawing from the UK authority spec market and the Park Lane dealership would no longer be supplying BMWs to the Police etc. I suspect this is due to the problems discussed in this thread.

Police Scotland are rapidly replacing their BMW fleet with Volvo V90s, XC90s and Skoda Superbs.

In a previous life when I used to convert them we were told a car a day gets written off, I should think thats even more now when you see what the scally wags get up to

I've seen a couple of black golfs and skodas which were unmarked cars.
They are quite easy to spot though especially the golfs - they are the only ones that aren't being driven around like an utter ****

I'm thinking here that given how they tend to have pretty new vehicles and Joe blagger doesn't, it could bring a whole new dimension to a police chase!

I saw a couple of Dyfed-Powys Plod Tesla's a week or so back.
With all the power-hungry DC kit in a traffic car - I imagine outrunning one won't be hard - if it's been sat outside the cafe for a bit.... cos it'll only have the range to get to a charge point

West Mids have been using Skoda's as unmarked dog units for a while, also Audi's are popular as unmarked and ARV's

Skoda Superb is a good choice.

It is indeed, an excellent car with masses of space for kit. I'm considering a 4x4 Superb as my next car.
