Today I acquired...........

Some decent signwriting brushes. I used to be half decent at lettering but my motley collection of Airfix kit standard brushes are well past it and were never very good. Should help me with painting some of the finer detail on the old machines I'm renovating too.

These are made by A. S. Handover who make them in Welwyn. A couple of sable chisels, a couple of sable pointed writers, a couple of one stroke lettering brushes, one sable, one hog mix and a squirrel hair swordliner. I've never used really decent brushes so I'm hoping it will make a big difference.

I did last week on spec from lidl - its going straight back for a refund, I can breath hotter, total rubbish, got a corded Dewalt which is great and thought it would be a god addition, alas not unless its fualty...

So Nickel can get this yellowish darkening?

I know Nickel plating from powerful transmitter tubes where the frequency doesn't call for silver and the surfaces are too huge/the tube too cheap for gold plating.
Haven't seen one of those yellow-brownish ...

A neighbour is a retired signwriter. His business went the same way before he retired but he started off old school so I may be going around to chat with him soon.

Wait a minute - can anyone else observe the same effect?

If I double-click the word crooked from my post earlier, right-click and say "Google search for", I just get the usual explanations of the term crooked.

But if I search for the term askew, which is also used in the same sentence, in the same way, the whole Google explanation page for the term is also askew.

Has their AI taken over the shop or is it just a joke from a contemporary colleague (as we sometimes have built in in our time - just not as prominently in my case, of course)?

My old dad used to get a sign writer in to do our vehicles and I used to watch in fascination, people who call themselves sign writers today aren't! It's the way of the world sadly, ten minutes on 'tinternet and you are fully qualified.

Okay, well not today but got it wired in today and cutting:



On the phone later to organise some blades as this one is cutting off. Really nice thing and should really help us out in the fab shop with the big bits. thanks to @Tinbasherdan .
Also, now that we have installed a three phase socket I stuck a plug on my polisher, (bought about four years ago ) and it finally sprang into life, now I just need to work out how to change mops!



I think I see a modification using an angle grinder in it's future!

Really surprised it’s triple hyphenated

Chambers hyphenates it for use as an adjective, which is quite common as a way of making the meaning a bit clearer "state-of-the-art technology" as opposed to "state of the art technology" which could be interpreted as commenting on how bad the condition of the "art technology" is or something like that.
