I agree. Something like a delphi copy is around £150 with a laptop. It will pay for itself no time.

I would not recommend a Delphi knock-off.
I have one, but the knock-off interface is horrendously slow to the point of being unusable on some vehicles, plus the last I checked the software version was still the latest one before Delphi moved to security dongles, so was pretty much useless on anything after 2014 IIRC.

Although it was worth buying for all the adapter cables, which made a couple jobs at work easier.

if your going that route there is a autocom clone that goes to the 2020 software.

i only bother with that one as it has the truck interface for the old 2002 horsebox.

Just bought VCDS HEXNET for my Passat and my sons tiguan….just in case…( sons car has front assist issues atm….possibly battery? )

Yes it only does up to 2014. So if his car is after that their would be no point. Personally I wouldn't buy a car after that coz they turned to ****.
Yours must have been faulty. I know several people running them with no problems and have saved a fortune.
I also know 2 small garages that use them.
At the price I dont see anything that can compete with it as long as your cars are still before 2015.

Delphi diagnostics - was spot of for 2.0 2.2 Ford Transits at the time - I had the Wurth WOW version 5 of it.

But times have moved on - and Delphi knock off diagnostics have had their time. Along with dated old versions of AutoData on CD's

When you've used the genuine version, the shortcomings of the knock-off versions are quickly apparent.

Yes…no point in buying knock off if it won’t do what I need it to do….can’t afford to be wasting money…

Look for a hacked version of the dealer software to install on a laptop & the correct lead to connect to your obd port on the car. I have one that does Peugeot/Citroen & it has paid for itself several times over sorting my vehicles out.

I think you can use it to install data if you fit a replacement instrument panel but afaik the mileage is in an inaccessible ecu somewhere & can't be altered. The version I bought was one of the cheap ones & is a bit buggy so I stick to the basics - reading fault codes & resetting faults. You can program keys etc but if it crashes mid process you could end up with no working keys. The menu system is terrible & unless you know where the function is it takes ages finding it.

Keep meaning to buy one of the better versions but the one I have is ok for my limited use.
