Citroen C2 wipers not working

This is my neighbours car, but I said I'd have a look! All fuses intact, I've had the battery off for a while in the hope it might be a software problem and it resets, but no joy.

Very simply no response by the front wipers to any position of the stalk. Rear wiper are fine.

I've google a few forums and tried a few things, but you seem to be the font of all knowledge and will know exactly where to hit it!

So, any thoughts please? It does appear to be a common problem, but none of the solutions (that don't involve a main stealer) have worked!

I'll stick my finger in the air and guess the motor is burnt out. Do they like switching on the wiper when it is frozen to the screen?

Check the electrical feed to the motor and see if 12v is getting up that far. It may just be a relay.

Without suitable diag kit, it is pretty much guesswork.
First thing I'd do, is use the diag kit to see what live data is showing. That lets you know if the BCM is seeing the switch working, and if it's at least trying to power the motor.

My guess would probably be the motor, but IIRC the BCM in PSA vehicles cuts power if it doesn't see the motor moving, so it's not quite as simple as checking there is power going to the motor.

Weird stuff French electrics, we have a Berlingo. Check out Youtube for clues there might be something in this and the ones it links to.

My bet would be a seized linkage where it goes thru slam panel (spline where wiper arm connects).

I have changed loads of these on French cars and vans over the years.

Most aftermarket motors come with the linkage attached.

Quick update - thanks for the manual @Anguz.

In my day there was a battery, a fuse, a switch and a wiper motor connected by cables that were either at 12v or earth. In the C2 there is a battery, a fuse, a switch and a wiper motor. However, the switch connects via the BSM in the car) to the BSI (in the engine compartment) which connects using old fashioned wires to the wiper motor. I have a 12v "park" feed an an earth at the motor. Nothing else. I've checked all fuses and actually changed the BSM.

My suspicion now is that it is probably a software issue with the switch/BSI not talking to the BSM as when you move the wiper switch, there is no click from the relay.

I'll keep you informed!

If you are doing work on Froggy PSA group cars, you can get a clone "Lexia" diagnostic box and software that plugs into the OBD port. The software is a dodgy version of the factory software and let's you do anything the dealer can do. Mine came from Aliexpress, but they are on ebay. Note the software only runs on windows xp as I recall, so either set up a virtual machine using virtual box, or use an old laptop as I did.
Been very handy with my Peugeot 206.

Update - there seems to be more ways to reset the various boxes in a C2 than leave your lover! I have reset the Comms200 and BSI more time than I care to mention! I am satisfied the BSM (under bonnet fusebox/relays) is OK, the fuse is OK, as is the wiring to the motor, the earth of the motor and the motor itself. It's just that nothing is telling it to move! Suspicion is with the Comms2000 (integrated stalks and network) as it has a bad reputation. The front washers work, the rear wash/wipe works, but the front wipers - nothing! It is a neighbours car and I don't want to spend out on a Lexia as reading some forums, it is not always that useful and I will have no other use for it!

So, disappointingly it has defeated me!

I did suggest as a last resort, we could sacrifice a goat on the bonnet - probably as much help as some of the resets I've tried multiple times!

Ensure you use the correct breed of goat, otherwise you'll just make it worse...
