I'd take it back for a refund tbh.Just finished watching a couple of "Youtube Experts
" narrowly avoiding injuring themselves dismantling an SDS chuck.
Realizing it's likely to be a mushroomed SDS extension end , It looks like this is the way forward for me , but I think I'll make up a grommet remover fork and something akin to a ball joint splitter as I quite like the skin on my hands & fingers to remain unpunctured and intact .
What I won't be doing is hanging the thing out of a vice by the SDS adaptor bit and hammering the sleeve free with a chisel , so the drill drops down onto the floor .
After doing the initial basic strip down , I'll lay it flat on the bench with the tool end held securely in the vice and lightly support the drill with strips of wood so when it finally comes apart everything it's still on the bench .
So pleased I rescued an ancient 9 inch Black & Decker bench grinder out a scrap bin years ago and put some new decent stones on it so I can dress the damaged spigot end , but I'll go to the local Screwfix and see if they will replace it as it is only a few days since I purchased it .
My SDS drills have been used and abused for years with nary a stuck bit.
100 notes gets a decent brand sds these days
