I’ve been looking at them as well and as you said most of the 2 tonne cranes look to be practically identical, probably made in the same place, I’d say pick the colour you like best at the best price point.
I got an engine stand this week from SGS engineering, £99 very sturdy and identical to the Laser tools stand which a fair few places are selling for over £300, clearly made in the same place.

I’d just go for a generic one really. I’ve totally abused mine for over 10 years now and it still works. Just needs an oil top up every now and then and sometimes you have to admit it isn’t the right tool for the job, usually when it bends enough to put all 6 wheels on the ground and then won’t budge
Funnily enough I was looking at them earlier. I was watching one selling online at a local auction house, viewed it today, the ram & frame were rusty, looks like it had sat outside & some of the frame pins were missing. It sold for nearly £100 inc fees, the same one on Onbuy brand new is under £200!

I've a Clarke one tonne. Wasn't long enough to get engines out of landrovers (and other forms of abuse), so I extended it. Big chunk of thick wall box instead of the original.
Had it twenty years, ram works same as first day, though I do spray silicon oil on the chrome on a regular basis.
I'd buy the same again.
What surface will it be used on? Size the wheels accordingly.

From an ambulance. Suspect it was the air con. pump. Bought the engine as a spare, it's only done 5k miles, guy was fitting a DAF unit instead.

About ten years ago a scrappy mate of mine cleared an old boys workshop up the farm after he died. In there was a dirty great Tangye engine crane, we used it for a school workshop clearance a few weeks later & it made the job easy. Afterwards I said "What you going to do with the crane?" "Sell it" was the answer.
I gave him £100 for it, best hundred quid i ever spent. It is always in the way, you bump your head on the jib but if you have to lift anything heavy it makes it easy. It is rated at 1ton close in 240kgs at max extension, It would probably lift twice that.

Aircon, but not in the normal sense -
The driver and navigator in the front could wear standard NBC kit, but, of course, the patients in the back could not.
So the medic and the patients sat / lay in a positive pressure environment. The compressor took the air, ran it to the tank behind the battery box (I think this was first rather than last) and then through the filters and into the back.
When I got mine, the filters etc were gone, but the compressor was knocking about in the back (ie not mounted, just rattling about in the back)

The 2 tonne ones aren’t 2 tonne, I’ll give you that. I lent a brand new one off a mate to lift the Cummins and a weld sheared on the leg. Went weirdly in slow motion until it gathered some pace, took me a moment to realise why I seemed like the engine was coming towards me

I have an ancient OHCO one which is operated by a screw. I really like it as you can leave it loaded without it moving, and if you want to lift or (more to the point) drop an engine by just a couple of mm you can. The max load at full reach is “only” something like 370kg, but how many car engines weigh that? It lifts a cast iron Ford V6 easily which is good enough for me!

The modern generic one work but the welding is usually shocking. I would look for a quality used one, Epco are very good but don't fold up

I scrapped an epco as it was such a nuisance to store and none local wanted it. It also had tiny wheels so used to stall when rolling over a zip tie!
Replaced it with a cheap folding generic 1ton Chinese job with cast wheels not plastic, far better for my purpose.
