I found that dubbin stays sticky & causes dirt to stick to it, this stuff dries out fully, oils the leather & waterproofs it. They even do a version that you can buff to a parade type shine!
As for boots, Altberg are a very good boot & can be picked up quite cheaply as they are the standard supplied British army boot.
For safety boots I only wear Grisport, Italian leather, extremely comfortable & hard wearing.
I used to wear wellies everyday, to tight in those days to buy leather boots! I now don’t own a pair of wellies, find them uncomfortable, no ankle support and make your feet sweat.I wear wellies pretty much every day at some point even in the summer because they are quick and easy.
I was wearing Dunlop Purofort Safety, nice and light and very comfortable. They do multiple years easily. I did try Purofort Pro but they felt a bit heavy and stiff. I'm now wearing Purofort Field Pro safety and I really like them, they fit snug around the ankle which makes them really nice to walk in as they don't flop around.

I just ordered some leder gris to try also thanksSince I discovered Leder-gris I've used nothing else on all my boots.

I've tried a bunch of different wellies and never had any that last very long - I think it was the hot water here killing them more than anything
tend to just buy cheap ones and treat them as disposable now
I've yet to try any Grisport safety boots (I don't really have a need) but I'm a huge fan of Grisport walking shoes and boots; I have about six pairs now!
Itakain as you say, made in the Dolomites in a factory with very green credentials, much of the power generated sustainably at the site.
thats brilliant , thanks ,will get some.If you buy decent wellies then it’s well worth cleaning and giving them a rub over with autoglym bumper gel, works a treat. Most importantly don’t leave them outside the door if they are in the sun, the sun destroys the rubber.
Be interested to see how you get on with them , I loved my hiax work boots but never tried anything for hikingI ordered a pair of the Haix Boots Cold Wet Weather boots well 2 pairs actually one for me and one for the wife.
It will be good to compare them to the Griesport boots I have
I'll report backBe interested to see how you get on with them , I loved my hiax work boots but never tried anything for hiking
Still waiting for the new boots but these got soaked today and the new cleaning kit arrived so it's time to clean them

I just used warm water today. I'll ask the wife to borrow her saddle soap next time.I like to use glycerine saddle soap for cleaning with a soft scrubbing brush.
