Pin hole in a steel tank

Dont know whats caused this on a Honda tank as the inside is spotless and rust free...Anyway whats the best way to tackle this fellas? i do have oxy/prop and brass rods, would this do the job or is there another way? please don't mention plastic metal as not an option

I’d just mig that. But I do a lot of it so easy to say I suppose.

If you went down that route and you weren’t too sure about it, you’d easily get a copper backer to it through that hole.

Piece of pipe bent in a J shape with the end of the short bit hammered flat and bent over so it pushed up against the inside. If you get my drift?

Yes, solder using an iron, not waving naked flames near an empty fuel tank unless you are sure, certain, positive, that it is properly purged. You need a flux like Bakers, not electrical flux, for tinning steel. I usually float a bit of copper over the top to strengthen the mend too. Frankly though the last time I looked, new Chinese knock off tanks were about £20.

TIG brazing is my go to for repairs like that now, just make sure to clean it out well first or it'll get exciting

Copper patch and soft solder.
Done a few that way in the past.

clean well flux and soft solder.use a copper iron heated over the stove i did it with a pinhole on the bottom of a jerry can full of petrol its small enough to not need a patch

a single bulkhead rivet ,,, and if your keen put a taste of devcon or the likes on the steel before you pull the rivet ,,, or a drop of solder afterwards ...

Thats an easy repair with the tig...i have done a lot worse than that !

Ive used 2part sealers akin to isopon worked well

I'd probably weld it.
Could stick a small bolt with 2 copper washers either side for a quick fix.

How did it happen, what's the surrounding area like? Thinning?

i used to have to re solder spouts that had broken off on swan and russel hobbs kettles at work . one was copper and chrome plated the other stainless steel

Solder would be my first choice, a blind pop rivet with a smear of sealant would be second choice.

Diesel not petrol never trusted cleaning tanks mate had collar bone broken when repairing a tank that had been in a hot trike bath then left it went BANG and hit his shoulder as it flew.
Why take the risk solder will work with a biggish iron
