Gas fitting

One for the gas experts.

We're having a new kitchen fitted with separate oven and hob replacing the old single unit, will the gas fitter put in some sort Tee fitting to replace the old outlet or will we have to factor in running a new pipe from the meter? Cheers.

That looks like it's already got a tee fitted, just a blank on the left hand side?

Try and have the specs./paperwork for the oven and hob available when you talk to the gas fitter.

These will contain the flow rate demand of the two appliances. If it is within the capacity of the 15mm supply pipe, the fitter can put a tee and two bayonet connectors.

If it exceeds what the 15mm pipe can supply, you may need to bring 22mm pipe from the meter.

The other item to factor into the mix is the boiler and its relationship to the gas pipe

The hex cap on the side is standard for every bayonet connector socket. It is where they insert the spring and other gubbins that cuts off the flow when you disconnect the flexi pipe. I do not think it can be used as an extra port.

Fitter will most likely cut out the 1/2" x 15mm elbow and extend supplies to where they are required. it is very unlikely that it will need a rerun from the meter in a domestic situation unless it's leaking, damaged, blocked or miles from the meter.
