Would a garage allow me to fill one of these?

That's just a generic photo but they're all the same. The website selling them calls them "un approved Jerry can", but, regardless, I could have the word of God himself saying they're fine, but what I'm asking is what the chances are of the cashier turning off the pump?

(And, no, obviously I've still not cleaned my metal cans... Im going to try electrolysis in caustic next!)

i fill simlar types. just pull up to the pump where they cant see you from kiosk when there busy most wouldnt even say anything ive not been stopped

I regularly fill these and various types of 20/25L containers with diesel. Saves taking 2 cars to the pumps. Never had a word said to me.

Our local place can be fairly strict about what and how much you fill, last time I was there I had 5 20lt jerry cans to fill with petrol, parked so van was hiding the view and got them all filled, went into pay and lass behind counter laughed and said "Don't see many petrol transits"

I've got one appears exactly same as the picture, think it's 30 or 40 ltr
Filled up a few times, didn't ask, just did and paid, no questions when paying or shouting over tannoy.

Went down to regular 20ltr as they are a pain to handle and the massive cap which I did not have a spout for

My boss has been filling two similar plastic cans with petrol for the past 20 years, 3 quads can use a lot, so every couple of days in lambing time, they rattle about in the back of a Toyota pickup but never seem to get holed. It will depend on who runs the filling station as to whether they accept it.

At the moment the boss has loads of those 20 litre add blue containers, due to the tractors consuming large amounts of it. They look like an ideal container for fuel, haven't tried using one for that, though did fill several with waste oil.

Filled the other half's generic little 5L petrol plastic container thing up a couple of months ago and had a right mouthful off the kiosk lady (Sainsbury) because it needed to be held up for inspection prior to filling to make sure it wasn't over a certain size.

Pre-pandemic I filled up six battered 20L jerry cans (Tesco) and stuck them in the boot of the car - not a word (and I think I had to do it in two payments too).

Go figure.

I have in the past filled such cans by leaving them in the van and just opening the side door to fill them. I've also got a huge red plastic fuel can, just like the red/green ones but it holds 15litres instead of 5

One of My local garages comes out and mans the pumps. Regularly fills those containers with red for me for the tractor. His white prices are the cheapest fir miles too and his coal is cheaper than online. I try and pop in whenever i am passing.

As above though 24hr pay at pump really wont care!

Ive still not gotten around to that : (

I'm still trying to clear the defender 110's fuel system of junk. I don't know where its coming from. I emptied the (fitted by me) sedimenter today, and this is what i was greeted by -

I use biofuel. Ive used biofuel for about 15 years in various vehicals. Our central heating runs off it. This is unknown to me...

But ive not put more than a tank through this since ive owned it, and the previous owner could have put all sorts through it (the repair work on the vehicle pointed toward a bit of wishful thinking also) so it "could" be residue still comming off.
Its not biological, as ive dosed it right up. I thought it was junk from my cans, but the paint is much red'er, so ive changed my mind on that too.

But im going to drain it all again, and put in some old, and very expensive, dinosaurs in, and see what happens.

I want to use a perfectly clean can though, just in case.

The stickers in the petrol station say specifically petrol must only. Be placed in an approved container. Diesel is fair game. I have 3 in the pickup filled in the petrol station every couple of days to run machinery. Always different stations and I don't make any effort to hide what I'm doing

I can sell you one of those full of isopropanol (I think), probably cheaper than fuel. Would it eat the bio fuel muck? Don’t know.
