Recommended activities around York

Hi all,

Me, the wife and the dog are visiting York next week, and I was wondering if any residents in or around can advise on things to do, or avoid.

So far, we have a small list of places to visit that covers both interests; national railway museum, gardens/houses of different persuasions, industrial and farming museums, etc.

Interests cover dog walking, archeological sites, tools, machines, history, drinking, ,,,

You mentioned drinking
In York the world is your lobster, so many good pubs.
If you go to the railway museum (a must) the York Tap is in Station Road. The Snickleway is rather eccentric, from there there's dozens of pubs.
These are the only two I can remember with clarity.

Personally I wouldn't waste my money, wifey and I were very underwhelmed. But we are all different.

Have been a few times, the last time both me and the wife were picked as volunteers, made it even better

I was put in the torture chamber, she was tried in court as a witch then put in a cage with a witch......

I will say I found the London Dungeon excellent.

You can always report back and see if they have set the pole lathe up so it can actually work!
