Fitting a DRO to my old Colchester Triumph

No you can't drive past the end.
But tbh a 1000m scale is still cheap. No real need for the 1200mm one I bought. Price goes up a lot over 1000mm. Doubt I will ever need the full travel.
You could always unbolt the bracket on the rare occasion you need the full travel.

You need more travel in the scale than the carraige is capable, to stop the read head crashing into the end caps

Alternatively, a fixed, physical stop that prevents this happening can be used.

Stopping the head crashing is what we want to prevent (the end). A longer scale is just one way to achieve this aim (the means).

For anyone with a long bed Triumph just buy a 1000mm scale. The travel is more than enough. No need to waste your money on a 1200mm. The extra length will virtually never be needed!

Which ones did you buy from banggood or wherever matey? Mines just a short bed so I'll have to measure it to see what max length I can fit in there is.

They are all the same really. The people I bought off weren't the cheapest as I needed separates at the time because nobody had the 1200mm scale.

This seems the best value - I see he does the 1200mm scale for a very good price as well but you won't need that
