Tonight I acquired a gem that will go down in our family history for aeons .
Alison has day four woman flu " A dying swan " with at least a dozen encores a day )
Yesterday I took a 5 kg frozen turkey out of the minus 22 oC chest freezer in my mancupboard to start defrosting it last night .
Where did I put it , in a big roasting dish in the oven as it's the only place we have that's big enough and safe from Jasper the cat .
Family came visiting this afternoon brought pizza etc with them , Alison comes into the lounge and does yet another dying swan act .
Suddenly I start to smell something is not good in the kitchen , She's only gone and turned the oven on 180 fan to do the pizza's , not ever thinking of looking to see if the oven is empty .
The plastic covering the turkey had just started to crinkle and flake . I managed to rescue it , do the pizza's then stick a temp probe in the thickest part of the flesh at stable 38 oC so reset the probe temp and alarm and cooked it to 87 oC in the inner leg .
Oh forgot, I had to rescue the neck ( in a poly bag ) out the body cavity and the rest of the giblets out the neck flap cavity (also in a poly bag) .
By the time it had cooked through it was a lovely colour and moist . We are having our first Crimbo nosh tomorrow with family obviously we're going cold turkey for the event . Then an official one here on the 25th with our Ukrainian refugee friends .
I think I'll be doing the cooking though .

Tonight I acquired one of these... been looking for ages, but the prices were far more than I wanted to pay. This one popped up with a Nikon iTTL adapter, but it might not be late enough. No matter, the series are superb lighting tools and hopefully it talks to the Nikons enough to make sense of them. Even if not, they're capable of producing superb results just on their own auto-thyristor settings.

What about putting it on a usb stick & then posting it to one of our many computer literate members so that they can upload it to a hosting site?
I'm another who would be interested in a copy of the manuals & I've no issue with donating to @8ob to cover his costs or a charity of his choosing.

I have ordered a fistful of 1gb USB sticks, I will try and download the info onto them or get @sako243 to do it. I will get a stick to @25.4_mechanic so he can launch it into space and send the rest to @James1979 ,@roofman . @drjim and yourself. Whoever else wants the info in the future can drain it out of Carsten's cloud..

Interesting, I've been looking for something reasonably-priced to use on the inner wings on the Firenza - they're satin black and I don't want them getting shiny. Last time I looked there was only some hideously-expensive thing at about £100 for a thimble-full.

It works well on my bike and skid lid.
Removing the splatted insects is a breeze, spray on, leave 20 or 30 seconds and wipe off with a microfibre cloth.

I already have the full set, but wanted an extra pair for a "grab and go" toolbag I'm putting together.
Zoro have a special on a lot of Knipex at the moment, stacked with a voucher makes them almost affordable.
I find I use the 180's the most. Must admit, I prefer the original design of pliers wrench to this new updated version, but it seems to be OK.

They are a good price from zoro on their weekly offer at the minute (especially with the voucher), but not sure how much longer that's on for.
I'd recommend the 250's for proper "full size" toolbox set, but the 180's are very handy for a tool belt or odd job bag.
I've got them up to 300 and down to the 125 (can't see the point in the sub-mini sizes) but don't use the other sizes so much for general use. They do a long nosed version in the 250 which comes in handy on occasion too.

been using it for 8 months ish i posted on here what people use i try use it every day but some times for get but it does work and if you got a savers store near its worth a trip as there only 6.95 ish each i normaly buy 2 every time but last me quite wellIt's that time of the year when 2 of my fingers on my right hand split on the ends, My Wife keeps insisting I try this so got a Tub from Screwfix my second home and we'll see how it performs, Fingers crossed complete with splits..
