Agreed, but fortunately for me there is a farm fairly local that keeps them, and has a cafe that serves a great full english breakfast. Many a happy Saturday morning spend there. And as an added bonus, it’s only a few miles to another farm with one of those raw milk machines so we get 4 litres while we’re nearby.

I would like to avoid plastic but unfortunately in this country it is not very cost effective. I have Carhartt work trousers which are a high percent cotton and last really well as they don't melt with angle grinder sparks. I have a couple of cotton work shirts from Australia which are really nice. But not allowed on some sites as they don't meet the hi vis standards which is a shame.
I have wool swandrii bush shirts for the cold. But waterproofs need to be gortex the only natural waterproofs really are wax jackets and I really don't like them.
And ofcourse boots have to be proper leather not the fabric infill bits

Years ago I had athletes foot that just wouldn't go away my wife bought me some merino socks and cleared up straight away. Ever since I only wear wool socks. Not sure about really high cut but tresspass and Costco do decent quality wool socks if you look through their ranges you might find something that suits. Higher the wool percentage the better. The wool keeps your feet dry and warm.

That's the ones I get, very similar to the Tresspass ones I also buy. Good quality for the price.
The microfibres bundles and thin work glooves are good as well from Costco. Hate taking the wife as it costs a fortune every time I go.

careful. I know of two people, who bought one or two tobe kept on someone elses farm. They ended up with so many, they have both had to hock themselves to the eyeballs, to buy farms.
To quote one of their husbands when she was out of ear shot “It would be cheaper to get divorced and use hookers”

I've worn tescos work socks for years, black with yellow stripes they don't fall down, don't unravel when they get burnt and last for ages and best don't cost an arm and a leg.

Ventile is a waterproof cotton fabric, waterproofs made of it aren’t cheap though. I understand it is what the wartime immersion survival suits were made of.
Just looked and it looks some really nice stuff but I struggle spending 100 quid on a work jacket think 500 would give me a fit
SASS in Lancaster used to make smocks - jackets - in Ventile and more or less made to measure. I got one before they (SASS) disappeared. It's great for keeping out the wind, but saturates in heavy rain, so need to use a poncho on top to keep dry.

Tried some of these and confirm they are awesome. Went back today to get some more but the price has gone up to 14 quid ish for 4 pairs. Still great value so I bought 3 packs.
Is this the same as them on ebay. A bit more expensive but if they are the same ill try them.

Use it for dog walking - gone into holes like every Barbour wax cotton jacket I have ever had.
