There's quite a few of these on my daughter's new build. They deliberated over chiselling
a flat on the wall. But decided against it. Now looking for options to hide the messy sealant...was thinking of mounting a shadow plate behind the main body of the lamp, around the square section. Like an "n" shape dropping in from the top and pu adhesive to the back, top, of the lamp body. Maybe 40mm projection either side, so the messy sealant is behind it and in the shadow, could use aluminium or stainless, powder coated to match the lamp.Any other ideas?

Yeah, I agree it will age well. But my daughter is not convinced!

3D print an "over" cover? Where I inset photocells into my gate pillars, I diamond disc'd neat enough rectangular holes. Then though got my lad to print PETG covers:
As another option you can get buff coloured silicone. The idea is the sliding gate can do it's thing against the black steel posts but loads aren't transferred to the brick pillars:

I don't think a 3d printed cover woul work as well on sandstone as it has on brick. The buff sealant may help.
The Sparky's have done this, but I suppose I could re-do them. (In the summer).
It looks like it was sealed up by zoo animals.
That's a great idea, would it be possible to 3d print these? Not measured the square section. But at a guess around 50mm. Depth 40mm ish.

though the wipe of silicone on the stone dosnt say much for the fitter
a 3d print wont work either not against uneven fascia of the subject either
chiseling stone isnt easy into a nice smooth square good luck on that one and my honest opinion here is do it yourself if you can do better

I am picky. I sometimes wish I wasn't!

Yes it will, all day long. It only has to sit on the high point with maybe a little blob of silicone. It's visual just to take your eye off the uneven black stuff.
@striker , have a measure and we'll print a sample cover.
Thank you. I will have a chat with my daughter and see which way she wants to go, either buff sealant or printed cover. There's 10 to do I think. I will measure up next time over to the site.

those lights have a gasket between the back plate and fitting. the backplate has a 20mm grommet fitted where the wire enters . just gun a bit of silicone in round the grommet and its water tight no need for all that crap round the outside
