I used to build automated honing machines for engine components.
The smell of honing oil and the fine particles used to drive me crackers when working on a used one

I believe the original practitioners of the art bored holes in human skulls rather than nickel alloys.

I use proper Delapena honing oil, saves a load of messing about and risking a customer component that is (usually) irreplaceable. Saves me tearing my hair out too, which nowadays is more important to me than many other things.

All of of his later videos were filmed at the place that bought a couple of his lathes. I don't think they had anyone with the requisite skills to do the work.
