the collectors cars were driven from France to Poland or Lithuania.....for repaints....always a bare metal job.....
even with all the travel and hotels it was cheaper by 50%.......it took about a week....
Here a better than average repaint inc a few dents repaired will set u back about a grand to 1400euro's....
as an add on.....it wasn't that long ago the Dutch used to visit the UK and get new engines n gearboxes fitted....

There’s a huge amount of very skilled undiscovered talent out that way.
I owe a lot of the fabrication tricks and dodges I know to a Romanian welder I worked with.

I've been quoted £2500-3000 for an MX-5 (and a 406) for a decent back to metal respray...

Any decent - business minded painter in the UK would not entertain full resprays now.
Too much of living - to be made out of out "under excess repairs". Small dents and scratches....

Waste of time looking at bodyshops for something like this. They aren't interested and the ones that maybe use it as fall back work when quiet.
Booked it in with Bert for next year. Classic car restoration specialist so that's what's needed.

I fed my family for quite a few years painting cars and even though I say it myself I am a bit of a whizz with a spray gun. My pal used to do all the structural and welding work and he was one of the very best fabricators I have met and I used to go over and paint them, I could do a full respray with the minimum amount of paint, times was ard back then up in the North East so we did what we could with what we had. We did full respray's in a weekend. Okay, not back to bare metal with everything out but work that was good enough to get us a steady stream of customers. We used to buy the odd one at auction too and paint them and sell them, only got caught out once, Ford Fiesta, I lifted the back seat and the floor was yellow, snag was the front was red!
