I’ve done a few batteries like this, to cast fishing weights. Not to be recommended, but we hit them open with a spade, fished out the mesh and melted down. Seemed to go well but I had more success with older batteries. Perhaps the newer ones have more complicated alloys.
. So organised with the person from whom I got my first Fronius to go and visit to get all three machines sorted, later that week. This entailed a trip of 850km one way, however what he also did is the get the Fronius welding engineer and their automation engineer to join us to get this all sorted. To keep it short TPS2700 water cooled gun wasn't assembled correctly, liner was about 8mm short of the small little red guide going into the hand piece push rollers. The TPS320i's both got new firmware and have not been tried yet. I had to cut some stainless steel for, again a rush playground job. Drawings all processed and put on to the plasma. First cut, forgot to set the correct voltage for the torch height control and the torch rubbed along the material. Voltage adjusted and next cut offset about 40mm **** **** and double ****. Had to walk away as there was going to be some aesthetic remodelling of the workshop. Couldn't sleep that night as wondering WTF had happened. The next morning noticed the torch had been dislodged from it's magnetic breakaway mount and shifted about 40mm to one side
. How did I not see that 'phew' that's great lets go cutting. Cut 6 out of 24 parts and heard a pop from the nitrogen generator. Looked over to the generator, red power light is on but no display. **** wellI need not continue with that. Rang to supplier but too early for them as they are 3 hour behind me, left a message. Rang the local agent, was told that 'we don't know anything about them' we could send someone to look but don't know when
. Bugger, what more can I say. Bugger that I will have a look my self. I am not stupid, I at least can narrow the fault down. Top off multi meter out, turn on multi meter, meter very faint, no problem battery needs changing. Meter's rear cover screws removed to access the batter compartment, found 9v batter, tried to pry the connector off and found one terminal slightly corroded, pried slightly harder, wire pulled out from the connector. I lost it, meter had a close encounter with the floor at some rated knots, but it did get some revenge as it took out a piece of skin from my right hand
. Spare meter out trace wiring and found the 24v dc power supply not operational. No problem I have spare 24 power supplied on hand, we will jimmy this in and see if that works. Power supply jimmied in and nitrogen generator operational, stainless steel parts cut.
Cheer up , life is always like that life would be boring indeed if nothing ever went awry , it's how you handle the problems that arise that really matters & you seem to have managed admirably .Good evening gents, again my two cents worth. I was just thinking about the amount of **** that has recently happened, last two weeks. Didn't take any photos, so this one is for those that don't mind reading. Since the memory is not so good, so two weeks is about as far as I can go. Lets start, was machining on the lathe one evening and the next morning the digital display was not displaying anything that I could understand. Several hundred dollars and some courier fees later problem fixed. A Saturday, started blasting airless paint pumps for repairs, after about an hour blast pot seems to not be functioning correctly, seems to be a problem with air supply. **** need to get these things done today so I can order parts on Monday. Not going to happen. After several hours investigation into the compressor as to why low air volume the problem was found to be the blast pot 'pop up valve' had delaminated (stuffed up) and blew out it's sealing 'O' ring. New parts ordered on Monday, this time also with spares. The compressor had also for some time, it's auto drain valve not shutting off and hissing all day, draining the air from the tank. The air filter, filtering air prior to the refrigerated dryer was not draining and had pushed water into the dryer and frozen up the dryer several times. So new condensate drain and filter with auto drain fitted. All is good now. Had also had a problem with my Fronius machines, not welding as I have been used to or expecting. This started to happen on a Thursday at 10.30am, I remember this exactly. The arc length would start to shorten after welding some distance. Stop for less than a 15sec and all back to normal, again after about 300mm same problem. I won't go into the problem as too long a description. This continued and it p!!sed me of the the point that, I have another machine I will try that. Long story short, I copied the program from my original machine to the new TPS320i and the same thing was happening. **** again WTF is happening. I assumed that I must of changed something in the setting with the smart gun that I don't know and have coppied it to the new machine. I have not changed anything in the program apart from the 'synergic' thickness setting for 5 years. Not a problem I thought, I have a third machine TPS2700 with a brand new water cooled push pull gun for this very reason. Attached the gun, treaded the wire into the wire feeder and pushed the wire advance. Wire go up to as far as the back of the torch and jammed. Not once, not twice, but every time I tried it. Pulled the liner out, checked it, put liner back in to where it won't go any farther, same problem **** **** and **** again
All I need now is about two days to go around and fit all the parts to all the problem items and close them up, only then are they completed
Primered wooden shelf few days ago, primer some other bits yesterday. Left the other bits on top to dry, there was no wet paint touching.
Well they bloody stuck and when pulled apart, ripped a nice long strip out of the shelf, so that needs gluing/filler and more paint
, I cut dozens of identical equilateral triangles out of 3 mm larch ply , cut slot in a pair so I could slip one into the other to make a pyramid then glued a panel pin in the pointed tip .I hear what you are saying and thankyou for that. I have been to places where there is 'much stuff' not working at all or properly, things tied up with wire or duck tape and just a mess everywhere. The mess everywhere I have and not need any more, but I try to fix things as they become problematic. I guess it was my turn to have much **** to go wrong all in a short time
Ive been up in planes like that, granted I was wearing a parachute. There are two ways to view things, glass half full, or glass half empty. I find the half full beats the half empty, but never forget if your in half empty mode, there is always so e where someone worse off than you!I have been to places where there is 'much stuff' not working at all or properly, things tied up with wire or duck tape and just a mess everywhere.
Personally I've never found that the thought that there is someone worse off that me makes me feel any better or the problem easier.

If your glass is half full or half empty it needs intentionally filling with something good .... in my defence I only had about 15 mins of daylight left anyhow and had had enough by then ! ...sod it the motor can run on the back axle for a bit now and hope I wont need 4WD til I get another nice day to crawl about under it
Perfect timing just before the next snow is due.Properly & badly Bodged the trasf. box front output oil seal on the Land Rover, the seal wouldn't go quite fully home in the housing without the certainty of destroying the seal so I compromised figuring that the seal would run ok on the flange anyhow, plus I used a speedy sleeve on the worn flange so fingers crossed...
I also shamefully gave up on refitting the front prop as it really didn't want to go in the gap
Let face it anyone with a LANDROVER is best off leaving it at home when it's cold and snowy.
