Im in this camp, boundary disputes often spiral out of control, ownership of the wall, do the neighbours know who owns the wall? How is owner ship defined ? On the deeds, or was the wall built post creation of the deeds and therefore with in the boundry?Out of common decency they should have asked, best to keep this sort of thing informal or it will escalate. I would be knocking on the door, not for anything other than to straighten out any misconceptions the neighbours may have and to find out what they intend to build. Bottom line here is your dear old mum needs to live next door to these people, as hard as it may seem and for the sake of your mother its best to try and keep it friendly.
