as a family weve all burnt a few of those as there easy to forgetThis has got me thinking. With being retired we have quite a few cuppa's a day. I bought a nice gas hob kettle from Aldi as a back up and might start using it rather than the electric.
I had exactly the same Bosch machine, the bearings went and turned out there were two versions of the machine, the earlier version of that model with bolted together drum, and later version with plastic welded drum. Obviously I had the second one!A friend in the domestic appliance business ( see his How to Repair videos) showed me a plastic Bosch washing machine drum, still with the moulded 'ears' to bolt it together. But, they're now stuck/welded inseparably together, so changing the bearings goes from a ten quid job to over two hundred, so uneconomic really.
It's utterly cynical. They'll say the item is repairable, but in practice render it extremely unlikely that it will be.
My current toaster cost.... nothing![]()
Cheaper after paying for it plus install? How long did it take?I installed a boiler tap. Quettle brand a couple of years ago. We love it. Instant boiling water whenever you like. My wife would boil the kettle then do something else then boil it again. Sometimes 3 times before getting round to putting the water in the tea pot! So definitely works out cheaper for us!
Very easy to fit, 3hrs ish including moving the sink trap, electric socket was under the sink unit anyway, for the washer.. I can't recall the cost but I think it was £500. We sized up. Apparently we can get 8 boiling cups before it needs a rest...Cheaper after paying for it plus install? How long did it take?
£500 is a lot of kettle boils!Very easy to fit, 3hrs ish including moving the sink trap, electric socket was under the sink unit anyway, for the washer.. I can't recall the cost but I think it was £500. We sized up. Apparently we can get 8 boiling cups before it needs a rest...
It is. But we like it. It's so convenient. We also get filtered cold drinking water from it.£500 is a lot of kettle boils!
I got a ghillie kettle from the bootie for a fiver.
Boils a pint of water (two mugs) in about 6 minutes on a few twigs.
If I fill it (6 mugs) it takes about 10 mins
It helps that I've got an outdoor "cooking area" just outside the back door - and a big pile of dry twigs.![]()
I thought about an instant boiling water tap when I redid our kitchen but isn't it just a constantly hot tank under the sink?I installed a boiler tap. Quettle brand a couple of years ago. We love it. Yep… that keeps water at 99c all day and night …I thought about an instant boiling water tap when I redid our kitchen but isn't it just a constantly hot tank under the sink?
Yes it is. But it's really well insulated. So if your not using it. It just tops up the temp periodically. If your drawing water off for a brew it obviously works harder. There was a number of kettle boils a day quoted where it becomes more economical than a kettle.I thought about an instant boiling water tap when I redid our kitchen but isn't it just a constantly hot tank under the sink?
that thing reminds me of the instant hot water above the sink and yet cheaperYes it is. But it's really well insulated. So if your not using it. It just tops up the temp periodically. Obviously not counting the install costs!
I don't think either of those are for drinking water. And probably wouldn't get hot enough for a decent brew! There's a safety clip provided to prevent any minors from scalding themselves as for teenagers, well they're old enough to know better!that thing reminds me of the instant hot water above the sink and yet cheaper

i wouldnt fit one on the sink but have its own station more so where younger teenagers can get burnt from one of them the extra sink defines that its a really hot water area not as what the kitchen sink is for where its set at much lower temps
