How to fix this fuel tank

Massive dented fuel tank

I've got this that idealy like to make it better not perfect ita been pushed down quite a lot

Can it be done ?

Oh and with basic tools as well just to make it a bit harder

Annoyingly (for you) I’ve just scrapped one of them. Off a cheap generator?

If it were me, I’d seal up the filler best I could, take the petcock out and put a pcl fitting in and connect to an airline but with control. Like a tyre inflator or something

yes but be careful start at 0 pressure and slowly increase go daft and it will blow up liker a balloon

If that doesn’t work your gonna be looking for either your biggest Allen key or bend up something to knock it back

I can’t imagine why an air line would t work to start with

I put in my post.

Take the cock out and put airline fitting in there.

Seal the filler best you can - good tape over the hole or rubber over the hole then cap back on.

A bit of a leak won’t matter. You’re just needing to get more air in than ambient air pressure. Think when you’re seating a tyre bead.

As bright spark says don’t go nuts on it. Do it gradually.

I can’t imagine why an air line would t work to start with

ive tryed a hard pull just lifting up and it flexes but not moves
and i dont think the fuel hole will take lots of abuse i still need it to seal after doing what i can

Flush it before you do anything.

Hook of a crowbar blunted. Few chocks of wood. Get Leverage into the right places

back to how i seal it

put the filler cap on and blow it up using the petrol tap on the airline and yes it will have the air vent in the filler cap but increasing the pressure will overcome the pressure the vent can let out

It’s a threaded boss in the bottom of the tank. The tap is a replaceable part. There’s a little filter inside it so it wouldn’t hurt to change that too

When you unscrew the tap it’ll have a o ring at the top of the thread. It’ll probably be knackered so you can replace that as well

If you use oxy acetylene and ignite it you won't need to seal the cap.

what about a a fuel pipe on the outlet turn on the tap and let air in that way it would be easyer to put a air line in to it

i dout ive got enough adaptors to make a good seal where the tap seats
