I once watched my son do a presentation…his opening line was “we dont need death by power point“ as he switched the projector off, then started his talk, it seemed to go down well. After half the group were switched off from the previous.

You should definitely consider taking a few random objects you've made and hand them out so the students have something tangible to connect with and keeps the lecture interactive. Plus of course it should promote questions, what's it for, what's it made of etc which might dig you out of a hole if you've stalled.
Frankly I think you're more likely to run out of time than anything else.
If you had more time to prepare, I'd suggest you start with a bang. Not necessarily an explosion but something dramatic, something unexpected, perhaps inexplicable and say you'll explain it at the very end. Keep some tension in the story so to speak. Without really knowing your story, I don't know what that might be; chop a knife in half with a knife for the materials science, perhaps a large catastrophically broken cast iron part; does anyone know what this might be from? Can anyone guess how this happened? etc. You could pass that round too (if it's not a boiler plate!).

Just be you and say it as it is, you’ll be an absolute hit
Just one piece of advice.
Nothing you can do there is worse than thousands of views you get on you tube.
So just remember that.
Plus you will be talking about a subject you know. It's easy when you know the subject and only need broad headings for your notes.

If I was directing this performance, I'd have that fire breathing steam powered truck coming right out of the screen as my opening. That big black monster is seriously impressive.
I'd literally have the truck on screen first, running the firebox right into the camera, then I'd make my entrance. Crazy loud speakers would be a bonus, especially if you've got a suitable spectacular clip of that machine.
Oh. Have you got any old steam whistles? If you're using comp air anyway, a quick toot on that will liven up the entire college let alone a classroom. Not quite sure how you'd work that in. Does the steam truck have a whistle?

Agreed. It has to be "live" though. Most vedeos of live presentations are pretty dire, even the Christmas Lectures at the Royal Institution struggle to make good telly. They would be amazing in real life of course, the two modes of edutainment are chalk and cheese. Having said that, a live presentation is way, way easier to perform than to try and capture on video so if you can make interesting videos (!) then a presentation will be a walk in the park.

You must have some great "Props" - toys that "do stuff" - make a bit of noise & have whirry, whizzy bits.
Bung one on the desk - get their interest and asking questions, and your session should take off under its own momentum.

Advice from an armature: I was suddenly asked / told to do a series of presentations to groups of dealers (100 at a time culminating with a lecture room full of folk from the Bristol Univ of Mech Eng) After the first disaster I decided to just make believe that I was standing in my own workshop and talking to a couple of neighbors. It worked a treat and I actually enjoyed it. I was offered, by the Uni co- ordinator, the chance to give a series of talks to other Universities. I asked " how much" " no fee " No thanks"
