I know, my dad is a lifelong whisky drinker, recently he has taken to Glendalough. I cannot get to grips with Talisker or Auchentoshan.

For me Auchentoshan is a cross between rotting seaweed and sewage.

Chivas Regal is still my favourite...go for the XV (15 year old) if you want to splash out

I've tried Auchentoshan and quite liked it, but I can't comment on your assessment of the taste as I've made a point all my life of not tasting sewage.

Peaty Islay ones for me, the smokier the better.

Actually the other day,we’ve a bumper crop of mushrooms currently,something in the air? I think the left pile are beyond,some grubs have burrowed in.
Anyway I’ll steam some and fry a few.

Since the ML8 of course uses MT1 instead of the cones I already have, I added some more stuff today:

A drill chuck Röhm supra SK with MT1.

A rotating tip holder with some tips to go with it.

The whole thing in a simple wooden box of unknown origin.

My dad handed in a box of special tools for my motorbikes, it included a 12" feeler gauge set (imperial)

will need to find out what they were used for.

The battery is suspect,it’s lighter than my genuine makita 5 amp
How they can still get away with this type of selling is beyond me...Its about time we all should start reporting them for blatant robbery.

So I got a full refund,firstly they offered me a £8 discount,I refused,not only suspiciously light,it flattens quickly plus it’s loose in its tool mount.

Result...i pay £68 per battery for my genuine 5Ah Dewalts and one charge can keep a grinder busy for most of the day, price worth paying imho.

12" feeler gauges are great for mechanical fitters. Testing motors for soft foot etc you can get in under the gearboxes

I've got a couple of DeWalt knock-off batteries...they're only used for my lamp and the screwdriver.

I think they're ok...but the spec of the cells isn't the same as the original Dewalt. Think DeWalt use special deep cycle cells and there's a difference in how they perform.

Knockoffs seem ok for light duty.

I am making myself an adapter for the ML8 from female 1"x12tpi to male M33x3.5

In the tables I find different core hole diameters:

- Here UNF thread ANSI/ASME B1.1 23.25mm

- Elsewhere then US-THREAD UNF (Unified Fine Thread) ANSI B1.1
Core diameter, calculated UNF 1"-12 22.81mm -

What do I do?
What would you do?

12" feeler gauges are great for mechanical fitters. Testing motors for soft foot etc you can get in under the gearboxes

Beat me to it , great for anything inside housings aswell to check for stuff far away saves having to cram the hands in most often use them for checking steam turbine nozzle clearances

23.25 is the tapping drill diameter.
22.8 is the core dia of the screw.
