Does the round bit (next to the fork thing on the right of the first pic) sit in the micrometer tool? I reckon it's a tool holder and the mic is for setting the depth of cut
The loose bits are nearly all for holding down - the half moons at the bottom, with the clevis pin connecting it to the threaded rod, with the bit at the top to allow the tapered female bit to be slotted by the tapered male bit, which gets screwed in to clamp the forged bit with the part members to be clamped down.
I can’t see the bit that locates the cutting head in the setter though? Or the borer itself, which would be worth a few quid I guess.
My old van Norman has a simple adjustable foot you engage with a washer on a threaded rod, then tighten as tight as you dare...

Didn’t @8ob sell his the other day to someone on here? The one in the eBay link is the same as mine, but has instructions (anyone got a set?) The bronze knuckle is an adaptor to allow precise angles to be ground on the cutter. It slips over the post and the cutter bears against a diamond wheel (the round disc to the right of the post).

Except the round disc on the right is missing its sharpening stone. That said you can get carbide cutters now for the 944.

That’s interesting - the wheel on mine has no diamond on it that I ever saw. What of the bits in the other pic - any ideas what they are?
Ok, for what exactly? Or should I just guess?

The bit shown is the bit that goes down the adjacent bore and hooks under the bore.
There are two kits that come with the 944.
Cats paw, measuring, cutter sharpening jig and cutters.
Other is the hold down clamp kit. Bit that seems to be missing is the cutting head hold down clamp
Ahhh, ok, the bit I don’t have is the red thing that presumably anchors onto the bottom of the adjacent bore, for “the adjustable foot that sticks out the side clamp down bit” to pull down from. For mine I just got some inch and a half old pipe and drilled a hole in it, got some threaded rod, made a washer that slides in the clamping down bit for the top, nut at the bottom 8obs your uncle. You just have to hold the pipe up against the main bearing bores to put it all together. I guess the original kit would allow you to rebore with the crank in situ - a dubious practice, that I did contemplate on my BILs telehandler, since an engine out was a nightmare. He chickened out, but with the right greased rags in the right places and some tape on the be journals I thought it would have been okThe bit shown is the bit that goes down the adjacent bore and hooks under the bore.

Do the axis of the holes relate to the facets of the cutter? Could be be part of a sharpening jig.
